Title of Position: Facilities Technician

Position Type: Full Time

Pay Range: Starting pay is $20.00 (Base Pay $17.50 + Locale Diff $2.50 = $20.00) – $21.05 per hour and considers preferred experience and preferred education described below.

Location: Durango, CO


Description of Responsibilities: The Facilities Technician is responsible for all general and project-based maintenance, vendor services, and fleet services associated with Axis Health System (Axis). This is a critical position requiring the exercise of independent judgment and action within the context of balancing preventative maintenance needs with an ongoing list of immediate repair needs. This position is responsible for monitoring and maintaining the electronic ticketing system utilized by the facilities team and will optimize organizational resources based on day-to-day operations through working knowledge and adherence to Axis policies and procedures as required.


Supervisory responsibilities: No


Physical demands: Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Employee is frequently required to walk, sit, stand or kneel and occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop. Must have ability to sit for longer periods at a computer. Employee must be able to travel between AHS locations. Possible potential exposure to communicable disease. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. AHS may make reasonable accommodations to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Education: High School or Equivalent
  • Experience: 2 Years

Preferred Education, Experience, Licensure:

  • Education: Associates in a Relevant Trade (Maintenance / Electrical)
  • Experience: 5 Years
  • Licensure: Colorado HVAC

  • Must be knowledgeable regarding patient health information and HIPAA compliance.
  • Must be organized and demonstrate the ability to follow guidelines.
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to be self-directed.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to follow the organization’s confidentiality and security rules.

Required Skills:

  • 2 years of experience in diagnosing general maintenance problems in a commercial work environment
  • 2 years of experience with HVAC, plumbing, electrical and/or general repairs in a commercial work environment
  • 2 years of experience in a medical, dental, and/or behavioral health environment
  • Interpret architectural, structural, plumbing, and electrical diagrams, plans, and specifications in accordance with technical codes and ordinances
  • Manage multiple priority projects simultaneously
  • Operate with a great deal of latitude for independent judgment and initiative
  • Interact well with people – staff, clients, and outside agencies – in a professional, courteous, and confidential manner
  • Organize and prioritize assignments based on work orders submitted through the electronic ticketing system and any emergency needs
  • Assist Supervisor and procurement staff in vendor evaluations
  • Complete routine repairs with little or no supervision
  • Operate equipment necessary to make minor repairs
  • Coordinate fleet services as needed in assigned area
  • Must have a current Colorado driver’s license and ability to be commercially insured and maintain a driving record that allows insurability with Axis commercial insurance agency
  • General computer knowledge and the ability to use Microsoft Office products
  • Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Good communication and customer service skills

  • CPI training w/in 90 days
  • BLS PRO certification w/in 90 days
