Experienced Steel Sales Professional

Northwestern Holding Company contains three premier United States steel manufacturers and distributors: Universal Metals, Ohio-Kentucky Steel and American Posts and Steelworks. We are looking for a seasoned steel Sales Representative to help us increase our sales revenues, and build and maintain customer relationships. The successful candidate will possess the below skills and experience, however similar skills and experience would be considered for the right candidate. We offer an excellent work environment, competitive base plus commission sales structure and a great benefits package.

Qualifications

  • Degree in business, communications, marketing, or related field preferred. Comparable education and experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 5 years of sales experience in the steel industry with a proven record of negotiating and securing new business.
  • A metrics driven sales philosophy who will support the sales reporting and accountability strategy of the company.
  • Ability to recognize current and future customer needs and communicate with the team.
  • Well-developed sales and customer relations skills, with excellent soft skills and cold calling techniques and the ability to build and maintain customer relationships.
  • The successful candidate will play a key role in increasing income and revenue by managing and negotiating with clients, generating leads, qualifying prospects and managing sales.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written including use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to write general business correspondence and reply in a timely manner as well as effectively present information and respond to questions.
  • Possesses a strong ability to adapt to different client needs, learn the various products and services of clients and communicate that message to buying targets.

Responsibilities

  • Build and foster close relationships with new and existing customers.
  • Grow customer base by lead qualification, cold calling, networking, travel, presentations, and strong organization tools to convert leads to new accounts.
  • Meet personal and team sales targets.
  • Report and provide feedback to management utilizing call reports and weekly itineraries.
  • Attend meetings, sales events, conventions and training seminars to keep abreast of the latest market conditions and developments.
  • Utilize the internet for sourcing leads and obtaining competitive and marketing data.
  • Communicate with sales staff and management to relay customer service needs.
  • Understand costs associates with material, production time, and delivery to best support customers.
  • Skills in analyzing data and preparing reports or recommendations.
  • Identify and develop relationships with industry professionals to generate new business opportunities.
  • Provide ongoing progress updates on new business development activities and other key indicators to the management team.
  • Help develop and manage the execution of the sales plan.

This position will require travel. Position is based in Toledo, Ohio.
