The Boeing Company is seeking an Experienced Intellectual Property Licensing and Strategy Specialist to join their team in Hazelwood, MO; Huntsville, AL; Oklahoma City, OK; Ridley Park, PA; or Tukwila, WA.

This role provides comprehensive Intellectual Property (IP) strategy and licensing support to the Boeing Defense and Space (BDS), Boeing Global Services (BGS), United States and International Government Customer organizations. The spectrum of support includes efforts to assist Boeing platform/product Programs to develop and implement appropriate IP funding and protection strategies that help the company win campaigns and complete successful programs, address customer data rights requirements, and ensure the appropriate evaluation of IP risks.

As part of these IP strategies, this role performs business development and IP valuation activities as well as proposes and negotiates potential intellectual property licensing agreements that integrate business objectives and market strategies, leverage the IP, bound risks, and address cross business alignment.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Analyze and suggest improvements to intellectual property strategies to support business growth and objectives

  • Leverage the IP, bound risks, and address cross business alignment and appropriate review and approval processes

  • Assist Boeing platform/product programs to develop and implement appropriate Intellectual Property (IP) funding and protection strategies that help the company win campaigns and complete successful programs

  • Address customer data rights requirements, and ensure the appropriate evaluation of IP risks during proposal processes or program execution

  • Perform business development activities for intellectual property licensing prospects that integrate business objectives and market strategies

  • Guide the technical content required to propose licensing opportunities, and consultation to functional support teams in the preparation of license agreement documents

  • Manage the licensee relationship and oversight of the associated licensing activities, including cross-functional resolution of licensing issues

This position is hybrid. This means that the selected candidate will be required to perform some work onsite at one of the listed location options. This is at the hiring team’s discretion and could potentially change in the future. At least 3 days onsite per week.

The position must meet Export Control compliance requirements, therefore a “US Person” as defined by 22 C.F.R. § 120.15 is required. “US Person” includes US Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee.

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher

  • Experience in leadership and driving difficult tasks to completion

  • 1+ years of experience coordinating activities with multiple groups or organizations

  • Ability to lead an integrated team through personal influence without direct line authority over team members

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Masters Degree

  • Licensing or intellectual property experience

  • Experience with financial acumen

  • Experience with strategic business plans

  • Experience in the aerospace industry

Typical Education & Experience:
Education/experience typically acquired through advanced technical education (e.g. Bachelor) and typically 5 or more years' related work experience or an equivalent combination of technical education and experience (e.g. PhD, Master+3 years' related work experience, 9 years' related work experience, etc.)
