This new hire will work at McCormick's global headquarters in Hunt Valley, MD and will be eligible to participate in our hybrid work program (50% onsite, 50% remote per month). The Purpose-led Performance (PLP) Program Director will report to the Senior Director, Global Sustainability.

Position Overview:

The PLP Program is a set of strategic, time-bound, and carefully managed Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) goals. As part of the Global Sustainability team, the PLP Program Director is responsible for leading our PLP Program, working with cross-functional teams to develop and to drive delivery of the roadmap necessary to achieve McCormick’s PLP Goals; maintaining and supporting internal ESG governance processes; driving and overseeing ESG reporting against standard frameworks (GRI, SASB, TCFD) based on materiality and rapidly evolving regulatory requirements; and tracking company ESG performance and providing actionable recommendations for improvement in corporate sustainability.

Responsibilities:
Work with cross-functional teams to develop the roadmap for our 2025, 2030, and 2050 PLP Goals and drive Program progress. Work with PLP Leadership Team and PLP Goal Leads to ensure the PLP Roadmap is a representative plan to achieve PLP Goals, including annual milestones. Support definitional clarity of PLP Goals and alignment with external standards and peer benchmarks. Put in place tools to track progress on milestones and identify risks to Goal delivery for leadership attention. Support may include establishing and managing Steering Committees for specific PLP Goals to support roadmap alignment, risk mitigation, and ensuring a path to delivery, as needed.
Maintain and support internal ESG governance processes. Lead global PLP Leadership Team with cross-functional representation. Support updates to PLP Governing Council (senior leaders) in support of integrating PLP strategy with overall business strategy, delivery of PLP goals and escalating risks, and ESG reporting. Manage the established process for ESG ratings and rankings submissions as well as other external sustainability progress reporting, facilitating review by the ESG Reporting Review Committee (ESG RRC). Support clarity of roles and responsibilities in PLP delivery.
Drive and oversee ESG reporting against standard frameworks based on materiality and rapidly evolving regulatory requirements. Work with the supporting Center of Excellence to manage the ESG reporting process company-wide, including monitoring the ESG reporting regulatory environment, advising on reporting needs and adoption of ESG reporting standards and frameworks, and recommending the addition or removal of ESG disclosures. Work across McCormick’s Centers of Excellence to ensure timely, accurate, and complete greenhouse gas (GHG) data. Support the Center of Excellence in managing one version of the truth (OVOTT) data for PLP reporting purposes. Collaborate with Corporate Finance teams on internal controls and integrated reporting as applicable and as required.
Monitor company ESG performance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement based on sound data. Track ESG performance, including benchmarking ESG ratings and rankings results, and work with the supporting Center of Excellence to provide decision-useful analyses and insights that inform leadership and Corporate Sustainability on actionable opportunities for ESG improvements.
Internal and external collaboration to deliver PLP goals and advance ESG performance. Work with Global Function Leads to ensure cross functional goal alignment with PLP objectives. Work closely with Corporate Communications and Corporate Sustainability to provide relevant information for all PLP-related stories & media opportunities. Maintain links to the Global Marketing Team to inform commercial agenda related to PLP. Build and maintain external network in support of PLP program development and delivery.

Qualifications:
BA/BS Business, Engineering, Science, Finance, or other relevant area of study
At least 8 years of relevant work experience in managing programs or large-scale, complex projects
At least 5 years of experience leading cross-functional teams in delivering shared objectives, including leading work planning, driving clarity of respsonsibilities, monitoring progress against established KPIs, and identifying and mitigating risks to achievement
Program/project management knowledge and experience, interest in sustainability and ability to collate/analyze data
The ability to work globally taking into account the regional differences in cultures and work practices
Demonstrated history of effectively coordinating conflicting priorities in a fast-paced work environment
The ability to work cross-functionally and coordinate multiple workstreams toward a common objective
Strong problem-solving skills
Record of achievement in using effective influence and communication skills with individuals at all levels and functions
The ability to develop key metrics and objectively monitor progress
