Position Details

The Sustainability Coordinator fosters a passion for environmental efforts into strategic efforts. This position will use creative and practical ideas, research and outreach to advance the City's commitment to innovation that supports environmental vitality for our community and future generations. The collaborative activities of the Natural Resource staff with their team, across departments and with local partners, community members and businesses impacts lives daily by providing healthy accessible forests, using and advocating environmentally-friendly and sustainable practices, and works to preserve and protect the city's natural resources.

The Sustainability Coordinator values people and perspectives by:

  • Collaborating in the strategic planning of the sustainability policy and program development.
  • Collaborating with city staff, government entities, community groups and the public on sustainability and climate resiliency efforts.

  • Champion sustainability and climate resiliency.
  • Bring sustainability and climate resiliency awareness to internal and external groups.

And they expect the best by:

  • Oversee sustainability outreach, planning, and coordination.
  • Share best practices to protect the earth.

What you'll bring to help you be successful

  • Bachelor’s degree in sustainability, public administration, environmental studies, physical sciences or a related field,
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience that includes working in sustainability principals, environmental management and outreach and/or climate change.
  • Excellent writing and presentation skills and experience speaking and managing public meetings.
  • A valid driver’s license or the ability to obtain.
  • Local government experience preferred.
