Position Summary

The Environment, Health and Safety Associate position is staffed through the Museum’s staffing partner, Kelly Services, with the location of assignment being The Corning Museum of Glass.

The position is onsite, part-time (20 hours per week), and will report to the Senior Manager, Environment, Health and Safety (Senior Manager). This assignment will begin in May 2023 for a duration to be defined, with possible extensions.

The Environment, Health and Safety Associate works with the Senior Manager to maintain high standards of safety and continual safety improvement at the Museum. Assists the Senior Manager with various aspects of the Museum’s safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

Safety

  • Assists with creating, developing and maintaining documentation to ensure compliance with regulatory and Museum requirements.
  • Assists with creating and maintaining PPE Hazard Assessments.
  • Coordinates with department leaders to assist in the creation, review and implementation of JSA’s (Job Safety Analyses).
  • Assists with creating proper documentation storage.
  • Performs ergonomic reviews, makes recommendations, and oversees implementation of corrective action as needed.
  • Participates in improving the safety inspection process by ensuring that objective evidence is provided for all non-compliance. This includes creating a Hand and Power Tool inspection process and validating remaining inspection needs.
  • Assists in the investigation of near miss incidents to determine root cause and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Assists with New Employee Safety Orientation and other training.
  • Participates in risk assessments.

Health

  • Schedules and assists with Industrial Hygiene monitoring.
  • Performs chemical inventory and SDS verification.

Environment

  • Supports environmental programs for air, water and hazardous waste.

Qualifications

  • Respect and exemplify the values of The Corning Museum of Glass in all interactions with colleagues, staff, volunteers, and the public.
  • Ability to represent the Museum in a professional manner.
  • Adhere to all prescribed organizational and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ability to professionally handle confidential material and associated issues; maintain confidentiality.
  • Associate’s degree or minimum of two years’ relevant experience.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as with a team.
  • Experience with ergonomics desired.
  • Knowledge of OSHA Standards and Guidelines.
  • Knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations.
  • Proficiency with MS Office tools.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $23.00 - $25.00 per hour
