POSITION: Project to Senior Level Environmental Engineer– Site Mitigation Services

LOCATION: Flexible within New Jersey

POSITION SUMMARY

AEI Consultants is currently seeking a full-time mid to senior-level Environmental Engineer to join our expanding Site Mitigation team. The ideal candidate has 8 to 10 years of experience, including remedial engineering and investigation and activities.

In this role, you will help lead engineering and remediation services for AEI’s NY/NJ office, co-lead overall technical operations for AEI’s eastern region, and mentor and manage technical staff. Responsibilities will also include developing project scope, schedule and budgets for various projects, including field work and travel, as needed.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Requires minimal oversight and supervision
  • Responsible for project design, implementation, reviews and oversight
  • High-quality technical report writing, including interpretation of data and applicable regulatory criteria, and strategic understanding of required next steps
  • Prepares and manages project budgets
  • Supports senior management team
  • Responsible for team proposals and cost estimate preparation
  • Project management of ASTM Phase II investigations and complex regulatory investigation/remediation projects
  • Responsible for field work and report writing
  • Document and report preparation; interpretation of data including recommendations of next steps
  • Develops subcontractor relationships and on-boarding of subcontractors
  • Responsible for scope of work and proposal preparation
  • Maintains or exceeds applicable utilization goals
  • Obtains and adheres to the Company required Health and Safety Training Program and Practices

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Working experience with NJDEP Site Remediation Program (SRP) and proficiency preparing related deliverables (PA/SI, RI, RAWP, RAR, RA Permits).
  • Experience as task manager on remediation projects and/or managing team of technical staff.
  • Experience (approximately 5 -10 years) with environmental due diligence (Phase I and Phase II assessments), and complex contaminated site investigation and remediation.
  • Experience with civil/environmental design, including remediation of soil, groundwater, vapor intrusion/radon mitigation. Brownfields redevelopment experience a plus.
  • Soil, groundwater, and soil vapor investigations, including well installation, logging and sampling techniques
  • Practical experience or relevant knowledge of NY/NJ/CT/PA and Federal environmental laws and regulations
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills; strong business acumen
  • Flexibility to work in a team environment and as an individual contributor and project manager; willingness and ability to perform a wide range of project tasks, as necessary (i.e., client management, cost estimating, business development support, field work, report writing and review, etc.); and ability to think critically through a project from conception to completion.
  • A self-starter, resourceful, with an attention to detail and the ability to work productively and independently on multiple projects under strict deadlines.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Familiarity with NJDEP SRRA forms, EDDs, and related documents
  • Proficient in AutoCAD
  • LSRP (NJ) or LEP (CT), or ability to obtain

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor’s Degree or higher in civil or environmental engineering, or similar field required

LICENSES / CERTFICATIONS

  • NJDEP UST Closure/Subsurface Evaluator a plus
  • Active Professional Engineer (PE) license a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • The work environment may be both indoors and outdoors. Indoor work takes place in a typical office setting. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Outdoor work requires the ability to effectively perform work in all types of weather conditions. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands and fingers to manipulate, handle or reach; and talk or hear. The employee may occasionally be required to stand, walk, balance, kneel or crouch. The employee may be required to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to focus.
