Summary:

The Environmental Health & Safety Manager (EHS) is responsible to ensure compliance with all safety rules and regulations, the physical security of company, and to assist individuals to be in compliance. This position is responsible for ensuring that PSG California is in compliance with all Federal, State and local agencies regulations, training, and any other requirements by such agencies, our insurance companies, and Company (PSG & Dover) requirements. The EHS Manager will serve as a subject matter expert on all safety, compliance, regulatory, workers’ comp, and related insurance requirements.


Education:
Bachelor’s Degree

Experience:

  • 5+ years of experience in Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) Management, program development and implementation.


Licenses/Certifications:

  • Relevant professional certification(s), such as a certification from the Board of Certified Safety Professionals, OSHA 30, DOT/HAZMAT, CPR/FA/AED/BBP is preferred.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Safety and Environmental Health principles including the ability to identify known potential exposures and recommended corrective actions as demonstrated by prior work experience.
  • Knowledgeable in DOZUKI, ENABLON Software preferred
  • Possesses management, leadership, and interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to develop, implement and evaluate written safety and training programs.
  • Train staff on Safety and Health topics.
  • Exhibits a working knowledge of Cal-OSHA General Industry, Workers’ Compensation and Environmental regulations.
  • Performs arithmetic skills such as measurement, addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division to complete basic calculations and analysis such as determining averages and percentages, and totals.
  • Displays knowledge of Microsoft Office applications such as word processing, presentations, and spreadsheets
  • Bilingual (Spanish is helpful).
  • Understanding of ISO standards, Lean Manufacturing, and 6S
  • Organized and proactive with a positive attitude.
  • Forward-thinking and passionate about safety.
  • Ability to be self-sufficient, research solutions, and make recommendations to management.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Manage EH&S Coordinator to support changing business & EH&S needs.
  • Overall EH&S management of PSG California and Colorado (Staff of 3 in CO)
  • Promote a positive safety culture within the company, ensuring all employees are well-connected around a common goal of safe practices.
  • Organize and maintain the company’s Safety Training Program for employees on policies, regulations, company standards and procedures. Create trainings on safety topics relevant to the organization’s work habits and injury history.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains all procedures and protocols encompassing the company’s Industrial Safety Program in compliance with all CAL-OSHA, OSHA, SB-198 Legislation and OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001. This includes routine auditing and fact-finding to ensure ongoing adherence.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains procedures and protocols related to the company’s Environmental Programs in compliance with all Federal, State, County Legislation, and ISO 14001. This includes routine auditing and fact-finding to ensure ongoing adherence.
  • Manages Workers’ Compensation Program including: implementing and maintaining policies and procedures that are in compliance with PSG/Dover standards and State legislation.
  • Develops, implements, and maintains all procedures and protocols encompassing the company’s Business Continuity Planning in accordance with relevant legal, regulatory, and business requirements to mitigate risks associated with business disruptions. This position will direct all aspects of business continuity planning from strategy though implementation.
  • Oversees ongoing Security Measures for the facilities during non-operating periods. Performs periodic inspections to ensure integrity of associated measures.
  • Oversees proper operation of the facilities Fire Monitoring Systems during all times (24/7). Performs periodic inspections to ensure integrity of associated measures.
  • Responsible for the Emergency Response Program and Evacuations
  • Responsible for Security and Safety monitoring of facility and security system.
  • Assists in the semi-annual assessment of the company’s Integrated Management System (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, OHSAS 18001 / ISO 45001).
  • Must be flexible and available on by phone in the event of an emergency
  • Performs all other duties as assigned

  • Use hands regularly to finger, handle or feel objects, tools, controls, and equipment. Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

  • Travel throughout facility as required to conduct safety inspections.
  • Read printed materials and computer screen, and ability to hear and speak to communicate in person or over the telephone.


Work Environment:

The environment is both office and manufacturing. The manufacturing environment is subject to moderate changes in temperature and the employee will be exposed to typical hazards of noise, flying debris, and overhead hazards requiring the use of proper PPE (Personal Protective Equipment).
