Location: Sutton, MA Required Travel: 50-75%

Required Education: BS/BA in related discipline or Computer Science Engineering, Electrical/Control Engineering or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Position Overview:

Entry Level Automation Engineer to be grown into development, maintenance, and execution of control solutions relating to Rolling Mill equipment (mechatronics). This position will be involved in project execution and commissioning through the final acceptance tests.Support customers in achieving production goals by in-person visits and/or via remote support. In this role you will be part of a team of engineers engaged in control and execution of the automation content of contracts and developments within the assigned time and budget. To include but not limited to:

  • Availability for extensive travel worldwide is required.
  • Adhering to company operating procedures.
  • Liaising with electrical companies and customers to meet the EA project requirements.
  • Liaising with the PT EA Regional Companies to meet the EA project requirements

Participate to code development work within the department coordinated by a senior engineer ensuring that established timescales are met and that all control equipment is fit for purpose, meets project requirements, has the appropriate safety standards, and the selection of electrical equipment is cost effective. Including:

  • To participate in electrical design and safety reviews with the contract design teams for all contracts assigned.
  • To ensure all the necessary process information and the contract specification is available and utilized for a contract in accordance with the department’s requirements.
  • To produce control and operational manuals in accordance with the department’s requirements.
  • To assist with commissioning activities as required to ensure a successful completion of contracts.
  • To encourage the use of standard code using existing blocks or creating new ones helping the improvement of a Standard library.
  • To formally report any perceived enhancements which can be incorporated into the as sold spec for the purpose of limiting/restricting contract stage conflicts.
  • To support proposal team and development team

Required Skills/Knowledge, Education and Experience:

  • 0-2 years’ experience in civil/structural design (industrial background preferred, but not required).
  • Knowledge of high-level programming languages (C++, VBA, Python, Java, or other common languages)
  • Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens and Allen Bradley)
  • Ability to analyze data and debug complex systems
  • Knowledge of drive systems and motion control (Siemens and Allen Bradley)
  • Experience with IBA PDA (or equivalent data acquisition/analysis system)
  • Knowledge of vision systems
  • Knowledge of robotics systems
  • Must communicate well with others.
  • Must be able to travel domestically and internationally to site to obtain “as-built” information on retrofit projects
  • Assist external design teams if required

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
