Number of hours per week for which this position is budgeted: 20-25 Schedule Flexible with some work from home allowed and some office time required.

PURPOSE OF JOB

This person will be a primary point of contact for online graduate and undergraduate students. He/she will be responsible for generating leads, recruiting students, admitting students, and advising students. The primary goal of this job is to assist current and prospective students in obtaining their respective degrees in preparation for a wide variety of careers from an explicitly Christian perspective. What makes HLGU uniquely Christian are the people that work here and the programs we offer. As a Southern Baptist school, qualified candidates should:

  • Possess a vibrant personal Christian faith including a clear testimony of Christian conversion
  • Be actively involved in a local evangelical church.
  • Be able to empathize with students in their respective walks while pointing them to Jesus.
  • Motivate students towards the completion of their degree plans and in their vocational pursuits
  • Possess an active Christian prayer life and a readiness to pray with the students about various life and academic situations

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Work with enrollment counselor and marketing department to generate leads and to develop a funnel of prospective students for all online programs (training provided).
  • Participate in student recruitment activities (some occasional travel may be required).
  • Follow up with prospective students through phone, text, and e-mail.
  • Advise, evaluate, and facilitate the admissions and advising processes for online students
  • Work with other offices (financial aid, business, registrar, various academic departments) to help facilitate student success.
  • Meet established enrollment goals through engagement of current and prospective online students using a host of available tools (social media, phone, text, email, etc.).
  • Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Strong Christian Commitment
  • Competency in or eagerness to learn about admissions standards and academic programs.
  • Must have superior communication skills and be comfortable speaking with people in person and on the phone. Much of this position involves consistent, meaningful contact with people.
  • Facility in Social Media.
  • Ability to learn new software and applications as needed for the position.
  • Possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Light lifting may be required.
  • Must have values consistent with the mission and purpose of Hannibal-LaGrange University.
  • Must agree to abide by the standards of employment on the back of the application, on the yearly contract, and in the staff handbook.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from administration, faculty and the students. Ability to use proper phone etiquette, as well as show courtesy and wisdom in dealing with sensitive issues in contacts with trustees, faculty, staff and students.
  • Ability to write timely reports and business correspondence.
  • Ability to work independently and creatively problem solve.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND TRAINING:

  • Graduate work preferred. Bachelor’s degree acceptable.
  • Prior experience in online education preferred
  • Prior recruiting, sales, business, or education experience is preferred.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate records and use of a database and spreadsheet are preferred.
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Proficiency with social media, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
