Aerojet Ordnance Tennessee in Jonesborough Tennessee is seeking an Engineering Specialist/Materials Engineer (Advanced Technology Lead). Our Advanced Technology Department is experiencing growth as we are on-boarding new products and conducting development work for future programs.

60% Without appreciable direction, the Engineering Specialist/Materials Engineer (Advanced Technology Lead) determines approaches to objectives demonstrating a complete understanding and application of principles, concepts, and practices.
Provides imaginative, thorough, and practicable solutions to a wide range of technical problems involving the conventional utilization of engineering techniques.
- Conceives and plans projects involving the development of new products/technologies to attain objectives
- Provides direction in problem investigations and resolution across functional areas
- Prepares technical reports in support of project goals
- Keeps current in relevant technologies and methods in support of project assignments
- May provide technical guidance to less senior project engineers and project support personnel
30% Act as Process engineer for current/new products that have not previously been manufactured at the site.
10% Work with senior level personnel to develop Research and Development projects that meet the goals of the business unit.
Master’s degree in Materials Engineering and Five (5) years directly related experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Basic knowledge of metallurgical principles such as heat treating, sintering, casting, and metal working. Good communication (verbal & written), negotiation and problem resolution skills. General understanding of contractual flow-downs, blueprint reading and manufacturing requirements.
May be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Security Clearance at the appropriate level. Requires U.S. Citizenship. Must also be able to satisfy federal government requirements for access to government information, and having dual citizenship may preclude you from being able to meet this requirement.
