What's so interesting about this role?

As a Software Engineer Manager at Grindr, you'll have the opportunity to play a key role in building the next generation of the Grindr app. Working within our engineering team, you'll have the opportunity to solve challenging problems while managing a small team of talented engineers.

You will provide your team with thought leadership and expert technical guidance/mentorship. In this role, you will turn empathy into action for our enthusiastic, queer user base. The Grindr team continues to innovate as the largest social media app for the LGBTQ community.

What's the job?

  • Lead with empathy and provide thought leadership, expert technical guidance, and mentorship to a team of passionate engineers
  • Determine the needs of our diverse & complex user groups, requiring applied understanding and resolution of complex or unusual business problems
  • Collaborating cross-functionally with the product and technical teams, bridging the gap between competing priorities and drivers.
  • Become an expert in the dating business, and in social and communication technologies, while serving the LGBTQ community.

What we'll love about you

  • You are experienced in leading or managing teams of engineers. You can coach and mentor other engineers on best engineering practices as well as their careers!
  • You have a passion for programming and a solid record for shipping multiple production-grade applications. You are able to leverage this ability and knowledge to step "into the trenches," when required, and facilitate the next actionable steps.
  • Experience with Architecture at scale and meaningful experience in client tech stack
  • You have been working closely with various levels of business stakeholders, from the c-suite, VP level, and down and understand value alignment.
  • Background in mobile development (iOS/Android)
  • Ability to process complex workflows and ensure alignment with key stakeholders.
  • You have experience launching or maintaining high-impact product software at scale.
  • You have excellent communication, presentation, and documentation skills with the ability to define and communicate the "big picture" to key stakeholders at various levels.
  • You don't shy away from conflict resolution and work to bridge the gap between competing priorities to maintain a culture of collaboration across the organization.
  • You are experienced with working on a geographically dispersed team and are able to bridge the gap between time zones
