The purpose of this position is to manage and execute engineering research and development project assignments associated with Textile Research. Typical hiring range for this soft-money funded position is commensurate with Career Level:


Engineer II - Salary Band 6 up to $80,000
Engineer III – Salary Band 7 up to $95,000

Qualifications:

Required:

  • M.S. in related Engineering field or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • At least three years of relevant textile-based experience.
  • Advanced coursework or equivalent experience in some of the following areas: Textile engineering and design, knitting, weaving (dobby and/or jacquard), fiber extrusion, advanced composites, finite element modeling, engineering design, advanced mechanics of materials.
  • Scientific oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to handle multiple projects and constant deadlines.

Preferred:

  • Ph.D. strongly preferred.
  • Experience in material characterization, specifically polymers, fibers, fabrics, and composites.
  • Hands-on experience operating textile equipment or working in a textile manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in student research.
