GHD is seeking a mid level Engineer/Geologist/Scientist to work with our Contaminated Assessment Remediation (CAR) group as a CAR professional based out of our Topeka, Kansas office.

Working with an energetic and high performing team, this position offers a variety of work and will see you involved in:

  • Provide technical and project management services to our existing and future clients on a variety of projects
  • Prepare technical correspondence, project proposals, technical reports, work plans, and project specifications including cost estimates and budgets - Data compilation, reduction, interpretation, evaluation/comparison to environmental regulatory standards
  • Interact with internal and external clients, contractors and service providers
  • Conduct environmental sampling and monitoring for various media and contaminants of concern by following established procedures
  • Be available for occasional after hours response to environmental emergencies to perform field tasks.
  • Participate in a proactive safety culture of continuous improvement

What you will bring to the team:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Applied Science (Engineering, Geology, or Science)
  • 5-10 years’ experience including a mix of field, data evaluation and interpretation and technical report writing
  • Experience in coordinating and simultaneously managing multiple tasks while maintaining a high degree of attention to detail in a consulting environment.
  • Working knowledge of methods and procedures for site characterization, hydrogeologic analysis and remediation of contaminants in soil, soil vapor, indoor air and groundwater.
  • Conduct research, collect and analyze data to prepare reports and documents
  • Critical thinking and problem solving – ability to identify multiple solutions to a problem
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Positive attitude, very strong interpersonal skills
  • Establishing and maintaining harmonious working relationships with superiors, co-workers and clients – effective collaborators are welcome
  • Self-starter and willingness to work in a team in a fast-paced environment
  • Interested in continuing professional development
  • The role requires safe driving skills, ability to work in the field under varied weather conditions, and ability to life and carry 50 pounds.
  • OSHA 40 Hour HAZWOPER certification is a plus
  • Knowledge of the Midwest market is a plus
