Position: Endowed Osborn Chair of Global Business

Department/School: Global Business, College of Arts and Sciences, with an optional courtesy appointment to the School of Business and Society

Appointment Rank: Open rank (Tenure track or three-year renewable term faculty position)

SALARY RANGE: $99,000 - $149,000

EXPECTED HIRING SALARY: $125,000

Available: Start date is open; beginning no later than August 2023.

Definition of Classification:

The Department of Global Business in the College of Arts and Sciences seeks an Osborn Chair of Global Business for its nationally recognized Global Business program. The Osborn Chair also supports the Department of Business Administration and Management in the College and programs in our School of Business and Society. The appointment rank is open and negotiable depending on qualifications (tenure track or three-year renewable term).

Teaching duties include six class sections per year, including entrepreneurship courses and the departments’ capstone courses.

The ideal candidate will have extensive teaching, research, and practical experience in entrepreneurship and/or strategy, preferably with a global focus. The business curriculum focuses on developing writing, management, language, and decision-making skills necessary for a graduate to excel in a highly competitive global environment.

The University:

The University of Redlands is a private, comprehensive liberal arts and professional institution with approximately 2,500 undergraduate students in the residential College of Arts and Sciences and 500 graduate students in the School of Business and Society. It is located sixty miles east of downtown Los Angeles, in a town of 70,000. The campus is surrounded by orange groves and sits at the base of the San Bernardino mountains, one hour from ski resorts, one hour from the coast and 45 minutes from Palm Springs. Light rail into downtown Los Angeles and coastal areas is available.

Candidates should possess:

  • Ph.D. or DBA in entrepreneurship, strategy, or a related field (preferably from an AACSB- or ACBSP-accredited institution).
  • Record of research, experience in teaching at the undergraduate as well as graduate levels, student mentorship, and significant experience in a leadership role in the business profession.

Preferred

  • An extensive business background in a residential overseas environment is an added plus.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate the abilities—and be expected—to develop significant external connections for our students, affording opportunities for internships, scholarships, guest speakers, case studies and employment opportunities.
  • The University of Redlands seeks candidates who have experience working with students from diverse cultural and socio-economic backgrounds.

PHYSICAL AND PSYCHOLOGICAL EXAMS: For certain positions typically in Public Safety, Facilities, Athletics and Information Technology Services departments, employment is contingent upon a candidate passing a pre-employment physical exam with the ability to lift in excess of 50 lbs. Public Safety Officers, in addition to a pre-employment physical exam, will also be required to pass a psychological evaluation.
