Location: Mount Vernon, NY

Hours: 35 hours a week (full-time)

Rate of pay: $25 p/h

Pay to Stay Bonus: $2,500

Position Summary: Provide vocational and educational counseling to adults with psychiatric disabilities.

Responsibilities:

  • Support a high-performing culture aligned with TGCW core values and B.A.S.I.C Tenets: Balance, Accountability, Satisfaction, Inclusion, and Communication.
  • Provide recovery based service coordination for caseload of participants who have vocational and educational goals.
  • Teach participants to create resumes, review interviewing skills and provide coaching to increase soft work skills.
  • Assist participants gain employment by searching for appropriate job leads, filling out online job applications, contacting local employers and attending job fairs.
  • Provide ongoing job support services in the community to help participants keep their job.
  • Provide crisis intervention services.
  • Develop syllabi and lesson plans for, and facilitate/teach, PROS vocational and educational related classes.
  • Cover classes as needed.
  • Engage in weekly appointments with participants.
  • Conduct required vocational assessments.
  • Complete case notes, Ticket to Work paperwork and other documentation as needed.
  • Utilize an Individualized Placement Support evidence-based model to assist with obtaining employment.
  • Complete IPS monthly reports.
  • Assist participants to complete ACCES-VR applications and follow up on status.
  • Work in collaboration with the Vocational Services Department to co-enrolled participants reach their vocational goals.
  • Attend/participate in staff meetings and trainings.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in related field. 1 year of vocational counseling experience required. Knowledge of evidence based approaches. Driver’s license required.

Travel Requirements: Generally, around 40%

Ability to sit for prolonged periods of time at desk. Ability to drive car and van and to travel into the community.
