Job Duties/Scope Of Work
As a member of the HMIS Emergency Management & Preparedness (EM&P) team, duties and responsibilities involve a range of emergency management tasks, including but not limited to:

  • Provide emergency response training and operational readiness support for Waste Treatment Plant (WTP) Facility Emergency Response Organization (FERO) personnel.
  • Assist the WTP EM Program in the development of drill scenarios based on the storage and use of anhydrous ammonia (and the subsequent receipt of other hazardous and/or radiological materials).
  • Act as the liaison in coordinating response training between WTP EM and site emergency response agencies (Hanford Fire and Patrol).
  • Assume lead for WTP component of annual protective action drill and periodic EM assessments.
  • Control/evaluate WTP, HMIS, and other contractor drills and exercises.
  • Develop and maintain site wide and HMIS emergency management plans and procedures.
  • Coordinate emergency management site wide external reviews and assessments with other Hanford contractors (OHCs).
  • Conduct EM&P program assessments for OHCs.
  • Serve as instructor for site-wide EM&P training courses.

  • This position interfaces with offsite emergency management agencies, the Department of Energy and
contractor management at all levels and must hold a position in the Hanford Emergency Operations Center
(EOC).

Other essential functions for this position include:

  • Making decisions and recommendations within authorized limits prescribed by manager and/or policy.
  • Maintaining and updating resource materials associate with emergency preparedness plans and procedures.
  • Reviewing recommendations for soundness of judgment and application of standards and policies.
  • Keeping informed of federal, state, and local regulations affecting emergency planning.
  • Maintaining knowledge of safety policies and procedures and performing assigned duties in a safe manner.
  • Participating and/or reporting to a variety of meetings, committees, and other related groups.

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree and 5 years of related experience - OR - an equivalent combination of education and
experience.
  • Previous experience in Emergency Management (EM) or emergency response.
  • The ability to work in the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) on evenings and weekends in the infrequent
event of an emergency.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Desired Qualifications
- Experience in the development and conduct of emergency or security drills/exercises or other emergency
response evaluations.
  • Experience in the development and presentation of training products.

Compensation & Benefits
Grade 16: $83,950 -$105,750
Grade 17: $92,238 - $116,213
Grade 18: $101,525 - $128,075
