*This Hybrid position is located in Egg Harbor Township and will require the successful candidate to commute to Egg Harbor in order to perform onsite work multiple days per week.

**This position requires the successful candidate to pass a background investigation to obtain a Public Trust Clearance. In order to obtain this, the successful candidate will have to demonstrate that they have maintained full time residence in the United States for the past three (3) consecutive years.

SUMMARY

The Mode-S Electrical Engineer will work on the Terminal and Technical Operations Contract at the FAA’s William J. Hughes Technical Center (“Tech Center”). The Mode S is a secondary surveillance and communication system which supports Air Traffic Control (ATC). The Mode S also interrogates and receives aircraft position and altitude information from Air Traffic Control Radar Beacon System (ATCRBS) transponder equipped aircraft.

The successful candidate will be highly responsible, team-oriented individual with very strong work ethic and a self-starter. Ability to act independently to expose and resolve problems. Excellent interpersonal skills; able to rapidly develop positive customer and team relationships. Excellent communication skills in English in written and spoken.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

• Diagnose & Repair legacy equipment utilizing repair manual and basic tools
• Build custom cable harnesses with manufacturer hand tools
• Write and review requirements documents
• Write and review procedures documents
• Conduct Bench Test Simulation

EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS

Analog Circuit Understanding:

• Creation Bill Of Material utilizing (Digi key, Mouser, etc.)
• Basic Circuit Design
• Basic Electronic Schematic Creation
• Basic Circuit Simulation
• Expert Soldering Skills

Documentation Skills

• Ability to understand and write a requirements document
• Ability to understand and write test procedures document
• Ability to understand and write hardware modification document
• Ability to understand and write repair procedures document
• Ability to create assembly wiring Harness drawings AutoCad or Visio

Communication Skills

• Ability to communicate to co-workers on a Technical and non technical level on the phone and in person
• Ability to communicate to customers on a Technical and non technical level on the phone and in person

Signal Processing Knowledge

• Basic understanding of Circuits Operating in the Radio Frequency Bandwidth

Digital Circuit Understanding

• Basic understanding of Digital Logic Circuits
• Basic understanding of VHDL or Verilog
• Basic Test Bench Simulation

Other Programming Languages Needed

• Basic understanding of C, Perl, Python Programming

EDUCATION

Bachelor's Degree in Engineering and five (5) years of relevant experience; or, an Master's Degree in Engineer and three (3) years or relevant experience

LOCATION

Work will be conducted in a hybrid environment, splitting time between a remote work location and the William J. Hughes Technical Center in Egg Harbor Township, NJ. Travel up to 25% may be required.
