Job Summary:
Perform functions related to controls engineering supporting manufacturing, maintenance and engineering departments with controls necessary to achieve desired results. Designs control systems for industrial material handling solutions. This role has a wide variety of task, requiring ability to gain full understanding of production processes and exercise judgment to modify controls to effect desired changes. Plan and prioritize work under general direction with production requirements as primary driver.


Required Education/Experience
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or minimum of 2 years of experience accompanying an Associate’s degree and/or technical school certificate specifically related to Controls and PLC
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Allen-Bradley PLC’s (all families), supported by a minimum of 2 years of practical Manufacturing experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in controls engineering
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience with Visual Basic and/or HTML/XML


Preferred Skills/Qualifications
:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Industrial Engineering
  • Comprehensive understanding of mechanical components
  • Knowledge of material sciences, metallurgy, aluminum.
  • Knowledge of six sigma and LEAN manufacturing principles.
  • Previous experience with SolidWorks.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Design and install retrofits to existing systems and supports projects of all sizes
  • Performs diverse, specialized and complex work involving significant accountability and decision-making
  • Prepares schematics and specifications
  • Maintains a progress schedule that meets project milestones
  • Creates Programmable Logical Control (PLC) programs
  • Implement and validate the system design
  • Troubleshoot hardware, software, and instrument problems.
  • Setup, editing, networking and troubleshooting of Allen Bradley PLCs (Control Logix, PLC-5, and SLC’s).
  • Machine safety systems/devices (E Stops, Light Curtains, guard interlocks, etc)
