Job description:

Designs, develops, and tests all aspects of electrical components necessary for the production of a Newell Motor Coach. Applies knowledge of electrical engineering principles to design the electrical infrastructure for the chassis and “house” systems as well as integration of third-party products such as engines, transmissions, inverters, chargers, instruments and controls. May be involved in fabrication, application, installation, and/or repair of products.

Duties:

  • Design and analysis of vehicle chassis electrical systems and components.
  • Design and analysis of vehicle “house” systems and components.
  • Integrate third part components into the Newell product.
  • Specification of components to be used in vehicle.
  • Provides technical support for production and service teams via in person discussion, phone support, text, or email communication.
  • Communicates system issues with vendors, Newell engineering, and production and service personnel.
  • Works with cross functional team members to perform root-cause analysis on various issues.
  • Creation of documentation including schematics, part lists and assembly instructions.
  • May perform on-site testing of beta versions prior to implementation.
  • Perform training for Newell personnel when needed.
  • Provide support for coach delivery teams when needed.
  • Using the Internet or printed manuals, look up relevant technical data for AV systems.
  • Provide customer support with technical assistance as needed.

Skills/Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering preferred.
  • 2-5 years’ experience in motor coach or large vehicle manufacturing and design preferred.
  • Strong communication and organization skills.
  • Experience in 12v, 24v and 120v systems.
  • Experience with automotive (J1939), motorhome (RVC), TCPIP network systems preferred.
  • Experience with residential audio/video preferred.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects from concept to implementation.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Office, AutoCAD
  • Knowledge of regulations related to the production of an on-road vehicle (DOT, FMVSS, CMVSS).
  • Knowledge of regulations related to the production of recreational vehicle “house” systems.
  • Adaptable to constantly changing systems, components, and procedures.

Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
