Are you a mechanically and electrically skilled person who is seeking a technical hands-on role? Would you enjoy building up truck components and assemblies for internal development and testing? Would you like to work in a Technical Center where you can support research and development of new products through creative solutions? ConMet eMobility is seeking to hire an EV (Electric Vehicle) Technician on a 3–6-month contract to support building and validating new electric vehicles.

The EV (Electric Vehicle) Technician is a mechanically and electrically skilled hands-on role, responsible for building up commercial truck and trailer systems for internal development, testing, or customer samples. This position will be part of our newly formed eMobility department and will support the development of electrification solutions.

This position is based in Vancouver, Washington at the ConMet Technical Center, which provides design verification and product validation support for our three core product lines: wheel ends, plastics, and castings. Our team of engineers and technicians maintain over 70 specialized pieces of test equipment and are continuously developing innovative new capabilities to provide our customers with cutting edge products that provide value without sacrificing performance.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Builds and assembles mechanical components for electrification prototypes and customer samples.
  • Wiring and install of electrical systems for commercial vehicle (both low and high voltage)
  • High Voltage training will be supplied.
  • Maintains inventory of consumable components and requests re-stocking
  • Follows prescribed instructions to conduct various manual procedures
  • Utilizes electrical measurement equipment and documents results
  • Fabricates test fixtures
  • Provides feedback to improve assembly process
  • Performs daily organization and cleanup
  • Supports development of new eMobility product

Qualifications

  • Minimum three + years of hands-on technical labor or mechanical assembly or mechanical repair work.
  • Experience wiring vehicle electrical components and harnesses (high voltage experience is a plus).
  • Strong mechanical aptitude with strong problem-solving skills.
  • Basic knowledge of hand tools, power equipment, fabrication, and machine shop skills.
  • Associate degree in a hands-on technical field and/or two years equivalent combination of education, training and experience preferred.
  • Two or more years of test and measurement experience in the manufacturing/product arena preferred.

Hourly rate range:

$30-$35 hour depending on background and experience.
