Lackawanna college is looking for an individual to hire an eLearning Content Updater in the field of Criminal Justice, Human Services and Psychology. This is a casual position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS, PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES AND OBJECTIVES:

The eLearning Content Updater (CU) serves as the subject-matter expert in the updating of eLearning Content Development master course shells (eCD) – necessitated by a change to the course’s textbook requirements or learning objectives.

The CU is tasked with updating an existing eCD course’s introductory language, lessons, discussions, and assessments, in accordance with the Lackawanna College FALCONS online teaching model. In this capacity, the CU will supply the Instructional Technologist with the entirety of written course material, discussions, and assessments, so that it can be effectively updated into a comprehensive, robust online course experience, to be taught by future instructors.

The CU should view these update periods as an opportunity to critically reflect on how the material is being presented, add language as appropriate, and truly bolster the phrasing used in the course. We ask that CUs think critically about ‘how’ the module is being delivered to students as a narrative learning experience.

This is a casual, part-time, hourly position (not to exceed 10 hours/week). This is not a teaching position.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Obtain and maintain an understanding of the FALCONS Online Teaching model.

2. Complete the following pre-build tasks for each course update assigned:

o Acquire the newly listed course textbook and other required materials from the publisher.

o Review the acquired course resources to gain familiarity with course content.

o Review the Course Improvement Log.

o Review the associated course description and course objectives.

3. Coordinate with the Instructional Technologist to review course building requirements, and the process for completing the required documentation forms below:

o Module Content Information A form which includes sections for the CU to insert full course introductions, lessons, discussion questions, assessments, and summaries for the Instructional Technologist.

o Online Syllabus A document supplying future instructors of the course with a master online syllabus for the associated course.

o Online Engagement Matrix A document outlining the proposed course materials contained within the associated course.

o SLO Guidance Form – A form that links graded learning activities in the course to the associated learning objectives.

4. Attend 1-2 virtual Teams meetings (over the course of each 4-week project) with the Instructional Technologist to collaborate and provide status updates. (These meetings are in addition to the pre-update meetings listed above).

5. Responsible for incorporating all feedback provided by eLearning and the division chair (if applicable) during the update process.

6. Utilize reputable sources, submit high-quality originally created content, and ensure appropriate citations and usage rights for copyrighted content.

7. Respond to all email communications from relevant parties within 24 hours during the project build period.

KEY COMPETENCIES:

  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Effective time management skills and the ability to adhere to strict deadlines.
  • Understanding of basic educational pedagogy, regarding lesson structure and assessment creation.
  • Timely and responsive via electronic communication to inquiries and feedback.

EDUCATION:

  • Master’s degree required.
  • At least 18 credits earned in the respective subject area.

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum 1-2 years online teaching experience.
  • Education background preferred.

Applications will only be accepted via online method OR email. If selecting the email option, interested candidates can email resumes to jobs@lackawanna.edu. Deadline for applications, March 5th, 2023. No phone calls, please.
