This position will support the development and implementation of HIVE’s educational programming, which focuses on tech and digital programming that stimulates digital skills, access to remote jobs, and access to living wage jobs.

Established in 2019 after receiving the grand prize at the Minds that Move Us competition, The UNM-Taos Hub of Internet-based Vocation and Education (HIVE) is a public-private partnership of three core partners, including The University of New Mexico-Taos, Taos Community Foundation, and Kit Carson Electric Cooperative. UNM-Taos HIVE is a network member of the Center on Rural Innovation (CORI) Rural Innovation Network, and works closely with other educational institutions, business resources organizations, and municipalities in the region. The HIVE was recognized by Digital Promise for innovation, and was chosen to be a network member of the Center on Innovation Initiative, and recently awarded two federal grants: one from the Economic Development Administration (Build to Scale) and Department of Energy (Spurring Economic Opportunity).

The goal of the UNM-Taos HIVE is to support economic diversification by building a tech-based ecosystem in NNM through educational opportunities and entrepreneurial support to grow regional talent for the digital economy. The HIVE accomplishes this by applying student-centered and researched-based models/frameworks of Guided Pathways and the Five Direct Drivers of Economic Diversification, and by creating opportunities for engagement among students, industry professionals, and business resources.

The Educational Site Coordinator will:

  • Serve as a liaison to educational providers and business organizations in the region, especially, but not limited to, UNM-Taos and the Center On Rural Innovation and maintain effective communication and collaboration with community partners to understand the needs and resources available.
  • Support current and future educational programming provided by educational providers; assist in identifying, developing, and implementing credit, non-credit, and industryrecognized credentials for youth and adults.
  • Define the educational roadmap for the HIVE so that it aligns with the economic and educational ecosystem in Taos, and incorporates the researched-based models/frameworks of Guided Pathways and the Five Direct Drivers of Economic Diversification.
  • Manage participant data for program assessment and modification as needed

This is a full-time, benefits-eligible position. This position will report to work in-person, at the HIVE offices located at 1146 Gusdorf Road in Taos, and may have meetings to attend at Klauer Campus, located at 1157 County Road #110, Ranchos de Taos. On occasion, the job will require remote work, travel, as well as participation in evening and weekend events as needed.
