EDUCATION MANAGER

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Education Manager, under the direction and supervision of the Head Start Associate Director will be responsible for the following duties:

RESPONSIBILTIES

• Supervision of the Early Childhood Education Specialists, the Disabilities Coordinator, and the Professional Development Coordinator in their day-to-day work.
• In conjunction with oversight of Education Component, develop an on-going program of identification of needs and training plan to meet needs for Head Start Staff and to ensure adherence to Performance Standards and Head Start Act School Readiness Goals.
• The coordination of Early Childhood Philosophy and practices as per Performance Standards and the Head Start Child outcomes framework.
• Developing and reviewing Childhood Development Associate (CDA) training plan and candidate selection criteria with Early Childhood Specialists and Head Start Supervisors.

5. Coordinating the efforts of Head Start Center Staff and Education Component Staff to develop on-going parent training in Early Childhood Education philosophy and practices.

6. Coordinating the efforts of the other Head Start Components and the Education component to develop individualized Education Plans for children in Head Start Centers.

7. Acting as a research developer for the Education Component to keep the members abreast of the newest research in the field of Early Childhood Education.

8. Promoting follow-up activities and transition activities for children leaving Head Start for the Public Schools.

9. Providing pre-school curriculum guidelines and resources for classroom staff following the Performing Standards.

10. Developing updating annually and implementing an Education Plan for County-wide Education Component.

11. Any other duties necessary by the CEO/Executive Director, Senior Manager or Supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Master’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor’s Degree with Certification in Early Childhood Education, currently enrolled in Master’s Degree Program leading to a M.A. in Early Childhood, may be substituted if there is evidence of extensive experience in the field.
• Five years experience in Early Childhood Education, which should include classroom teaching, staff supervision, and training preferably in a Head Start Program.
• Thorough knowledge of child development, education, learning theories and a wide range of skills, methods and practices in the field of Early Childhood Education.
• Ability to supervise other professional staff members, make suggestions and encourage feedback from other members of the Head Start Education component.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $55,000.00 per year
