Job Summary

The University of North Georgia is currently accepting applications for an Education Abroad Advisor Multi-Campus. The Education Abroad Advisor (EAA) is responsible for coordinating and advising students going on study abroad programs. The SAA is the primary contact for students who are interested in study abroad. The EAA works with programs at the university and across the state in order to give the greatest variety of opportunities to our students. The EAA will be responsible for expanding the number of students that study abroad, marketing and promoting study abroad programs and talking with students and parents about study abroad. Some evening and weekend hours required.

Responsibilities

  • Advises undergraduate students regarding study abroad opportunities on the university, state, and national level; Advises students on pre-departure information and on-site activities of study abroad programs; Act as the primary resource of knowledge about study abroad programs on campus.
  • Coordinate study abroad information forums in the fall and spring; Manage the marketing of study abroad to the campus; Coordinate and conduct study abroad workshops; Assist in the coordination of international education week; Manage the study abroad portion of the Center for Global Engagement website; Conduct presentations to freshmen classes about study abroad programs on campus.
  • Facilitates credit transfer of student classes abroad; Process students participating in the International Student Exchange Program (ISEP); Supervise Students Abroad with Regents Support (STARS) student workers and manage their scholarships; Track Study Abroad Scholarships; Assist study abroad program directors with financial management and insurance issues.
  • Generate reports for the University System of Georgia's Office of International Education.
  • Participate at state Level study abroad meetings.
  • Driving international students to and from the airport with the International Student and Scholar Advisor.
  • Other job related duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities

  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office and other computer software.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment; Excellent communication skills; Predisposition to work as a team member in a dynamic and flexible environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Valid Class 'C' Driver's License required.
  • One year of experience in administration or higher education setting required (international office, student support services, advising, financial aid, registrar, orientation, residence life, peer mentor/tutor, etc.).
