Job Description:
The parent educator is responsible for a wide range of teaching responsibilities within the Early Childhood Family Education program, working with parents, guardians, and families of children from birth through five years. The parent education will create a safe, respectful, and engaging educational environment in collaboration with other EC staff members to build on family strengths and support family needs. The parent educator will plan and facilitate parent education classes that are responsive and respectful to family needs. The parent educator will have a strong background and understanding of child development as well as adult learning styles. Class schedule will vary from session to session. This position also includes supporting Early Childhood Screening.

Job Responsibilities:
1. Plan and facilitate parent education groups within the Early Childhood Family Education program.
2. Provide support, strategies, and resources to promote the development and strengthening of parenting attitudes, knowledge, and skills.
3. Collaborate with early childhood staff to plan and create programming responsive to individual and family needs.
4. Model and teach effective strategies relating to teaching children and reinforcing positive parenting skills.
5. Collaborate with various community organizations to provide Early Childhood Family Education classes and services.
6. Assist in providing outreach and promote ECFE programs to underrepresented families.
7. Support Early Childhood screening.
8. Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Minnesota teaching license is required
Parent and Family Educator license preferred
