Purpose Statement


The job of the Early Childhood Coordinator is to provide support to the Director of Early Childhood Learning; ensuring efficient operations in school activities, procedures, and policies; supporting learning through instruction and behavior supports; the Early Childhood Specialist shall be directly responsible to the Director of Early Childhood Learning.


  • The Early Childhood Coordinator promotes the development, articulation, implementation, and management of the school’s mission, vision, and goals by assisting the Director of Early Childhood Learning.
  • The Early Childhood Coordinator implements positive and proactive communication strategies for effective parent and community involvement to improve the learning environment for all students.
  • The Early Childhood Coordinator advocates and supports curricular and instructional programs which promote the success of students.


Essential Functions


  • The Early Childhood Coordinator promotes a safe and effective learning environment and leads staff to develop effective processes for responding to early childhood behaviors and learning needs in developmentally appropriate ways through modeling, coaching, collaboration, and general support.
  • Supports a variety of programs and/or activities as needed (e.g. Quality First coaching activities, AZDHS licensing requirements, Child Find, KinderSteps, U of A Screenings, collaboration meetings, Early Childhood PLCs, classroom coverage, fire drills, etc.)
  • Work in conjunction with Head Nurse/ Health Care Tech to monitor healthcare plans for training and periodic reviews. Administer medication when needed.
  • Orients new site personnel (e.g. substitutes and staff as required) regarding appropriate school and district practices for the purpose of effectively assimilating new personnel into site operations.
  • Assist with special events held to recognize student achievement or family connections.
  • Assist in providing support to students receiving special services.
  • Performs other duties as assigned for the purpose of supporting the educational processes of early learning in CGESD Preschools.


Qualifications


  • Must have at least a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
  • Must have a valid teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Endorsement.
  • Must have a minimum of three years experience in Early Childhood Education (grades Prek-3rd), preferably including preschool experience.
