D.R. Horton, Inc. is currently looking for a Division Vice President of Construction. The right candidate will be responsible for the daily operations for all construction field related activities. This position manages the construction financial obligations outlined in the division business plan established by the Division President. Manages all projects and the area managers, project managers, superintendents, assistant superintendents involved in the process.


Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Responsible for the generation and implementation of all construction field policies and procedures
  • Communicates constantly with the sales, accounting, purchasing, land development and production departments to achieve division goals
  • Manage and supervise construction activities in the field either directly or through utilizing construction area managers, project managers and superintendents
  • Oversee field operations, productions times, and ensure quality control so that the homes built meet the DR Horton quality standards and are ready for homeowner orientation and occupancy
  • Ensure the Construction Department is meeting all safety standards in accordance with OSHA and state regulations
  • Review performance of all subcontractors
  • Responsible for developing departmental budget and controlling the budget
  • Visit job sites periodically to spot check quality and policy enforcement
  • Review survey cards for construction and customer service to direct quality improvement efforts
  • Promote an atmosphere of accountability that focuses on quality and customer satisfaction
  • Recognize talent, recruit, retain and motivate a team across all functions required to run a successful division
  • Promote construction team relationships and partnership with trade partners, ensuring communication and accountability
  • Review customer satisfaction surveys, analyze and identify trends, and implement solutions to improve customer satisfaction scores
  • Drive process to ensure the most cost-effective product. Provide recommendations to reduce costs and increase efficiency
  • Conducts all business in a professional and ethical manner to serve customers and increase the goodwill and profit of the company
  • Collaborates with management team in the selection of product, understand the division’s markets, current consumer preferences, and identify the competition
  • Ensure all employees represent D.R. Horton, Inc. and the division professionally to the public and local government offices
  • Monitor relevant changes in the marketplace and react quickly to take advantage of opportunities
  • Ensure division compliance with all company policies and procedures and enforce all established standards
  • Build strategic relationships and a network of business contacts

  • Supervises 2 or more employees

Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s Degree, preferably in Construction or related field from a four-year college or university
  • Must have a vehicle and a valid driver’s license
  • Ten years’ experience in homebuilding
  • Basic accounting or finance knowledge
  • Experience in a leadership role involving operations, sales, and production
  • Demonstrated problem solving skills by using persistence and ability to overcome obstacles
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written oral form or via DRH applications
  • Proficiency with MS Office and email
  • Ability to stand and walk for 4 hours straight or up to a full 8-hour day; sit for extended periods; kneel and bend at the waist; walk up and down stairs; walk on unlevel terrain; use hands to finger, handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear. Ability to lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision ability required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision and peripheral vision
  • Regular exposure to outside weather conditions
  • The noise level is generally moderate
