Lakeland Village Residential Habilitation Center has an opportunity for you to use your coaching and mentoring skills to work with people with intellectual disabilities.

As an Attendant Counselor 3, you will be a shift charge, under the supervision of an Attendant Counselor Manager, participates in the training and evaluation processes of Attendant Counselor 1 and 2 staff; acts as liaison between supervisory, professional, and other appropriate staff to maintain necessary communication of information, e.g., policies, procedures, client information, etc.; facilitates appropriate follow-up action(s); provides input regarding staff duty assignments and unit operation for their shift; promotes and maintains a positive reinforcing environment. Functions as a member of an interdisciplinary team following Intermediate care facility regulations.

This is a swing shift opportunity from 2:30 pm - 11:00 am on 84-85 Sunrise.

Some of what you'll do:

  • As a shift charge, assign staff duties, instruct and check the work of others
  • Assist and train or maintain clients in all areas of ADL's and personal care including bathing, dressing, grooming, feeding, toileting, personal hygiene, social behavior, behavioral management, choice-making, and household management
  • Transports clients to appointments, activities, etc
  • Provide money management opportunities whenever appropriate
  • Observe, document, and report changes in individuals' physical/mental conditions or unusual behaviors; provide client safety, security, and protection
  • Implement individual programs, plans, and services that are designed to maintain skills and facilitate independence; carry our prescribed programs as daily schedules require or as written
  • Provide care in accordance with the Care Plan/IHP
  • Perform light housekeeping duties and launder clients' personal clothing and bedding

We're looking for professionals who have successfully demonstrated:

  • Demonstrate good judgment in supporting clients in crisis by emphasizing the helping relationship using program-approved methods
  • Willing and able to transport clients as necessary
  • Must be able to effectively communicate with management, peers, clients, and the public as required to carry out the assigned duties of the position
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of behavior management and skill acquisiiton

Who should apply?

Professionals who have:

  • High school diploma or GED and two years of experience working with people with developmental disabilities
  • High school graduation or GED and two years of experience as an Attendant Counselor 1, equivalent or higher-level state class
