DSHS FFA Maintenance Mechanic 2
We have a great opportunity for you to join our team here in Medical Lake, WA. Your knowledge and experience will ensure effective operations, distribution, and installation.

Independently functions as a qualified maintenance mechanic in the maintenance, repair, and construction of plant machinery, mechanical equipment, mechanical systems, commercial & residential appliances, commercial & residential kitchen equipment (including refrigeration units), furnishing, roll-up doors, and other facility structural components for Eastern State Hospital, Lakeland Village, and Consolidated Support Services.

Some of what you'll do:
  • Respond to emergency maintenance, maintenance & program repair in a variety of skilled and journey-level work in relation to buildings and equipment
  • Install, maintain, and repair non-permanent air conditioners
  • Diagnose, inspect, troubleshoot electrical control circuits, temperature, and pressure controls
  • Ensure the facilities buildings, building systems, and equipment are repaired and maintained to meet required operation and regulatory standards
  • Assist in all mandatory testing including assisting with all documentation, escorting vendors/contractors, maintaining and verifying inventory of equipment that requires testing
  • Perform preventative maintenance on assigned equipment as directed or needed
  • Follow blueprints, plans, and sketches and develop estimates of time and materials for assigned projects.
  • Other duties as assigned

What we are looking for:
  • Must be able to perform the essential functions described in this announcement successfully
  • Must be able to communicate with professional conduct and comprehend, through oral and written forms of communication, with management, peers, clients, and the public
  • Dress appropriately for the work to be performed including wearing Personal Protective Equipment when necessary.
  • Knowledge of standard practices, methods, materials, tools, and equipment of mechanical trades, safety precautions, record keeping, and basic computer skills.

Who should apply?

Professionals with:
  • High school diploma and four years of general work experience in building and equipment maintenance, construction or repair work, or completion of a recognized apprenticeship in a skilled mechanic trade.
  • Possession of a valid Washington State driver's license
  • Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration
  • CFC license preferred
  • Ability to read, interpret, and work from blueprints, plans, and sketches. Estimate materials and personnel needed to complete the project
