JOB TITLE: Driver

WORK LOCATION: 1210 NW 14TH Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32601

JOB TYPE: Part-time, Contractor August 2022 to June 2023

HOURS: up to 30 hrs per week

SALARY: $17.00/HR

The Gainesville Opportunity Center is a non-profit that helps adults living with chronic Mental illness rejoin the community and find jobs.

We follow a recovery through work model where Members come and participate in our work day. Members work side by side with our staff in order to build confidence.

The driver contractor’s main responsibility will be to safely transport Clubhouse Members from one location to another in a timely manner. In doing so, they must follow traffic laws and correctly route themselves, ensuring there is enough fuel to reach all destinations.

The GOC operational hours are from 8:30 am – 4:30 pm. The primary need for driving services are between the hours of 1pm to 5pm, Monday – Friday, but may change to meet the needs of Clubhouse Members.

The contractor driver position is a 1099/Contractor position

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

• Must Pass a Level 2 Background Check
• Transport clients and/or packages to and from destinations
• Arrive at destinations on schedule
• Fulfill administrative needs, like office pickups
• Research and plan for traffic, construction and weather delays
• Use navigation applications to determine the best route
• Interact with clubhouse members and community partners professionally at all times
• Ensure that the vehicle is always fueled and ready for use
• Arrange for vehicle repairs as needed
• Keep mileage records and repair records up-to-date

• Ability to sit for long periods of time
• Minimum visual acuity of 20/50 (or corrected to 20/50) and depth perception
• Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations
• Perceive the nature of sound, providing oral information, the manual dexterity to operate equipment and, and handle and work with various materials and objects
• Exposure to hot, cold, wet, humid, or windy conditions caused by weather may occasionally be experienced
• Ability to lift heavy items
