Northrop Grumman Strategic Space Systems Division (SSSD) is seeking a Business Development Manager 3. This position will be located in Redondo Beach, CA and report to the Advanced Programs and Business Development Business Unit (BU) Director, leading business development activity relative to SSSD Comm Systems Business Unit. The Business Development Manager will work with a campaign team of capture professionals, business development professionals and industry partners, supporting activities to realize long range strategy plan commitments.

The Northrop Grumman Military internship Program is open to all ranks and experience levels. SkillBridge participants are not eligible for compensation from Northrop Grumman, as they continue to receive military compensation and benefits as active-duty service members.

Responsibilities for this internship position are:

Northrop Grumman Corporation (NGC) has developed the Northrop Grumman – Military Internship Program (DoD SkillBridge) utilizing the DoD guidance for Skillbridge. During this program the service member will be on-site at his or her host company performing an individual internship in an entry to mid-level career type role. The service member will be on the job training supporting a work schedule equivalent to 40hrs per week. Outlined below are the Goals,

Objectives, and Outcomes for the program.

Goals – Provide transitioning service members fellowship-style job skills training during the last portion(s) of their military commitment. This program is specifically designed to offer internships that result in the potential to transition to a full-time opportunity as the conclusion of the training. Interns will serve as a pipeline for high-speed, motivated military candidates into NGC.

Objectives - Service Members who complete the Intern program will be highly trained, capable, future employees that align to the specific needs of the organization and are prepared to meet the NG mission “Defining Possible” on Day 1. This program provides a comprehensive internship experience including professional development, networking with leadership, and training specifically focused on NG leadership principles, company history, customer/stakeholder engagement, product and service overview, and core job responsibilities.

Outcome – Offer transitioning service member a rewarding opportunity to join the Northrop Grumman team.

DoD SkillBridge Eligibility:

  • Has served at least 180 days on active duty
  • Is within 12 months of separation or retirement
  • Will receive an honorable discharge
  • Has taken any service TAPS/TGPS
  • Has attended or participated in an ethics brief within the last 12 months
  • Received Unit Commander (first O-4/Field Grade commander in chain of command) written authorization and approval to participate in DoD SkillBridge Program prior to start of internship.

Roles and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

New Business Leadership

  • New business strategy development and execution.
  • Opportunity identification and shaping.
  • Threat identification and mitigation.
  • Mission area business analysis.
  • New business capture support.
  • Business Acquisition Process (BAP), Position-to-Win (PTW) execution.
  • Ongoing business protection and expansion.
  • Partnering with the Space Systems Division, other NG sectors and industry partners to create new business opportunities.

Customer Understanding

  • Developing and maintaining relationships with senior and mid-level government decision makers with emphasis on national security space acquirers and users.
  • Providing deep insight into space communications systems acquisition and user base including DoD, IC, R&T, commercial and other Space customers across all elements & architectures.
  • Collaborating with NGC Government Relations on customer engagement strategies and execution.
  • Developing and executing business development plans to influence all aspects of new business capture.
  • Providing the division with customer information, planning, analysis, and strategy on each new business pursuit as an integrated presentation for sector management bid/no bid decisions and for the long-range strategic plan.
  • Providing analysis of future customer requirements analysis.

Analysis

  • Supporting robust competitive assessments, identifying win discriminators, supporting price-to-win, win themes, and determining resources required to execute new business development activities.
  • Providing customer budget analysis across congressional budget cycles.
  • Providing insight into congressional activity related to our programs of interest.
  • Providing decisional analysis of customer acquisitions, decision milestones, and practices.
  • Supporting industry teaming and collaboration across the business areas and industry teammates to accomplish strategic objectives for the mission area.

Ethics

  • Ensuring new business activity is carried out in accordance with government, customer, and Northrop Grumman policies, procedures, and processes.

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university.
  • 7+ years of relevant aerospace experience performing engineering, program management, business development or procurement
  • 4+ years of management experience
  • Possess a strong understanding of DoD and national security space missions
  • Top Secret or SCI clearance or current in-scope SSBI.
  • O-3 and Above with experience in Space Command

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Direct prior experience as a national security space user.
  • Direct prior experience in space acquisition for national security space.
  • Experience with requirements/architecture development, mission planning, program management, procurement/ acquisitions.
  • Current user and acquisition customer relationships.
  • O-5 and above with Space Command experience


Salary Range: $155,400 USD - $233,200 USD


Employees may be eligible for a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
