Job Summary and Qualifications

As the Division Network Engineer you will assist with the design, implementation, monitoring, and support the HCA Healthcare division network and security infrastructure. As a primary technical resource for the division you will be responsible for the set-up and repair of division and facility network infrastructure, including the monitoring and diagnosis of network performance, and resolution of network-based incidents and requests reported to the division service desk, especially complex incidents requiring research and diagnostics.

You will maintain the HCA Healthcare network and security environments by adhering to and supporting HCA Healthcare ITG policies and procedures, and recommends process changes that improve the implementation, maintenance and support of division and facility-based network equipment. You will assist with division and facility-based project planning, strategic planning, 24x7 on-call support with other members of division IT staff, and may be required to supplement facility-based, on-site support to technical resources.

DUTIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure.
  • Manage installation of low voltage Category cabling Category 6, Category 6a, and communications equipment.
  • Manage vendor installation of Fiber Optic Cables.
  • Work with Vendors on constructing new Data Closets, ensuring they are following Enterprise MEP guidelines.
  • Manage maintenance on existing cabling systems.
  • Assist Network Engineering with MDF/IDF closet build outs, including dressing and routing of cable into telecommunications closets, modular furniture and other work area outlets.
  • Manage installation of wireless access points, wall face plates, keystone jacks, and RJ45 connectors.
  • Testing newly installed or relocated cables according to company/building specifications.
  • Identifying and removing redundant cabling.
  • Utilize various types of testing equipment from: 4-Pair Tester, Toner-probe set, OTDR and Fluke DTX for validation purposes.
  • Installing cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and inner ducts.
  • Ensuring all cables are neatly tied and bundled according to safety regulations.
  • Performs system testing and signal verification.
  • Completing paperwork such as timesheets, checklists, and service orders.
  • Follows all company safety policies and procedures, and reports accidents, hazards, and equipment problems.
  • Attends and participates in various meetings within the company.
  • Design and configure IDF and MDF to system requirements
  • Manage Vendors Installing cable support structures such as j-hooks, cable racks, and inner ducts.
  • Manage Vendors Installing, maintaining, and repairing cable infrastructure.
  • Perform maintenance on existing cabling systems.
  • Testing newly installed or relocated cables according to company/building specifications.
  • Identifying and removing redundant cabling.
  • Experience pulling and routing low voltage cable in a commercial environment preferred
  • Terminating phone jacks and dressing and terminating distribution frames (66 or 110 blocks, patch panels)
  • Ability to read blueprints and/or schematics
  • Performs other duties as assigned.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES Required:

  • Ability to maintain and upgrade of all life safety systems ( hardware and software).
  • Able to maintain an accurate inventory of all in-use life safety equipment, maintain service records, upgrades, and warranty information.
  • Knowledge of Fire, Burglary, Surveillance Cameras, Digital Video Recorders, Access Control Systems, Intercom,
  • Knowledge of Nurse Call systems (Rauland/Hillrom) preferred.
  • MDF/IDF, Audio, Security/HVAC Pressure Sensors, all related cabling, and other systems.
  • Experience working with MEP guidelines.
  • Technical and computer skills.
  • Effective communications skills (written/oral)
  • At least two years of practical, on-the-job electrical engineering experience, performing electrical engineer duties including development of concept design, preparation of construction documents, and construction inspections in the areas of utility (power & telecommunication); electrical service calculations; site, building exterior, and interior lighting; power distribution; and low voltage systems (data, voice, intercom/paging, nurse call, security, fire alarm & detection).

EDUCATION:

Associates degree or 2 years equivalent work experience


EXPERIENCE

A minimum of two years of experience with data networking technologies

CERTIFICATION/LICENSE:

  • Valid driver’s license required.
  • Low Voltage license preferred.


WORK EXPERIENCE:

  • 2 years of relevant work experience – HealthCare setting preferred.
  • Experience working a HealthCare setting preferred.
