SUMMARY
  • Is responsible for Specialties Manufacturing plants within the Retail and Display Division
  • Oversees and is responsible for all aspects of plant production and the suitability for sale of all items produced including training, planning, and directing the work force
  • Is responsible for exploring new technology and making equipment recommendations to leadership
  • Assists with capital planning and capital projects for all plants
  • Regularly visits plants to ensure they are meeting objectives

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Responsible for the health & safety of all employees
  • Follows and ensure that subordinates adhere to all applicable safe work policies & procedures.
  • Ensures that corporate policies and procedures are followed and the plants maintain compliance with all state and federal laws.
  • Provides leadership for Plant Managers
  • Develops talent within the organization
  • Creates and maintains developmental plans for direct reports as well as high potential associates.
  • Understands team concepts and work to create a team environment
  • Ensures all facilities have documented preventative maintenance plans and adhere to preventative maintenance schedules.
  • Ensures plants are engaging in 5's and actively progressing
  • Develops plans to constantly improve profitability while decreasing costs and maintaining acceptable production rates.
  • Embraces continuous improvement and employs CI throughout the division
  • Ensures plants develop and maintain standard work for supervisors and associates.
  • Maintains a positive working relationship with peers, direct reports and associates.
  • Checks product specifications to ensure run ability over plant equipment.
  • Complete all reporting and data entry as required.
  • Other duties as assigned by leadership

  • Must be able to train Plant Managers and troubleshoot problems
  • Must be capable of filling in for Plant Managers
  • Must be able to understand and communicate customer requirements
  • Must be able to communicate effectively with superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Must have good leadership qualities and maintain the respect of his superiors, peers, and subordinates
  • Must be able to facilitate plant meetings and share pertinent manufacturing information with employees
  • Must have an excellent project management skills
  • Must be able to travel 50% to 75% to facilities

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
  • 5 or more years of leadership experience
  • 10 years of corrugated manufacturing experience
  • College Degree preferred but not required with adequate experience

LANGUAGE SKILLS
  • Needs an excellent understanding of both written & spoken English

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
  • Must be able to count & perform simple mathematics (addition, subtraction, multiplication, & division)
  • Must have a reasonable understanding of accounting and finance.

Plant work space is not climate controlled and can reach both hot and cold extremes (30 degrees – 110 degrees Fahrenheit)

Teaching skills in order to function effectively as a teacher for his/her personnel both in the technical and administrative parts of the position.

Excellent crisis manager who demonstrates that he/she has a high emotional control under adverse conditions and can lead his/her personnel to a successful resolution.

Excellent employee relations skills including being an active listener, understanding how to appraise personnel, applying both positive and corrective feedback, being able to resolve conflicts either involving the supervisor directly or as a third party, understands and demonstrates positive motivational skills including coaching and delegation techniques.

Demonstrated confidence including providing a consistent leadership style with an acceptable level of professional assertiveness.

Professional appearance to support his/her role as a managerial representative of the company.

PERFORMANCE MEASUREMENTS
The performance of the supervisor will be measured as follows:

Operating standards - the Divisional Manufacturing Manager will need to see that all reporting staff meet or exceed the Operating Standards in the areas of quality, cost, safety, customer satisfaction and productivity. Such standards will be set annually and communicated to the supervisor.

Personal growth - while the company will provide the tools to assist the supervisor to grow professionally the responsibility for moving forward lies with the individual. Each year there will be goals developed and agreed to by the supervisor and his/her superior.

Employee relations - through observations the Divisional Manufacturing Manager will be evaluated regarding his/her and his/her reporting staff's skills and advancements in the areas of motivational techniques and results, positive and corrective/constructive feedback, subordinate development and creating a positive work environment.

Creativity - this will be evaluated by how active the Divisional Manufacturing Manager and his/her direct reports are in participating in advancing the business through new and innovative ideas.
