• Sunrise Mansions, Cottages and Brighton Gardens communities have a reporting relationship to the Dining Service Coordinator
• Full Service Communities have a reporting relationship and matrix with the following leaders:
• Executive Chef or Dining Services Director

Position Summary

The Dishwasher is responsible for performing various kitchen cleaning and storage activities such as but not limited to dish washing, pot washing, general and equipment cleaning, storage and rotation of food and supplies.
Responsible for janitorial duties in various dining services areas such as Dining Room, Bistro and other areas associated as a Dining Activity. Responsible for handling all foods, storage and cleaning activities in accordance with sanitary procedures and standards and complies with all federal, state and local regulatory procedures regarding food storage, cleaning and preparation.

• One (1) year job related experience preferred
• High School diploma preferred / GED acceptable

Job Responsibilities

Sunrise Senior Living operates a number of different brands of communities for seniors. As a result, this position’s area of responsibility may differ among the various brands and states. Despite the differences in responsibilities between the brands and states, the following are a core set of duties common to this position.

Essential Duties: Ware Washing

• Responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the dish and pot washing areas
• Operates dish machine(s) according to Food Safety Standards
• Operates dishwashing to properly wash and sanitize all dishes and china, silverware, glassware, utensils and cookware
• Responsible for the set-up and maintenance of the pot and pan sink according to Food Safety Standards
• Manually washes pots, pans and cookware

Essential Duties: Production Equipment Washing

• Cleans large and small production equipment as directed such as but not limited to:
• Stoves
• Ovens
• Fryers
• Microwaves
• Mixers
• Slicers
• Refrigerator
• Freezers
• Work tables
• Prep sinks
• Hoods and ventilation screens

Essential Duties: Record Keeping
Responsible for the recording keeping and maintaining the following measures for service standards and regulatory compliance

• Manually records dish machine(s) temperatures
• Manually records dish machine sanitizer
• Manually records pot and pan sink temperature and sanitizer strength

Essential Duties: Resident Services

• Reviews, reads, notates and initializes the Daily Log to document and learn about pertinent information
• Reviews Resident Diet Book, confidential Diet Board / Indicator, Data Card or Chart
• Maintains and protects the confidentiality of resident information at all times

Essential Duties: Janitorial Duties

• Cleans production equipment (see Essential Duties: Production Equipment Washing)
• Follows all daily and weekly cleaning schedules
• Performs the following as directed by Supervisor and in accordance with Food Safety Standards and

Sunrise policy

• Sweeps work areas
• Mops work areas
• Washings walls and ceilings
• Sanitizes areas
• Removes trash from the building

Essential Duties: Risk Management and Safety

• Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with OSHA requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations

• Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire extinguishers,

MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures

Essential Duties: General Duties

• Assists with food preparation and plating when necessary
• Maintains the correct placement of all cookware, china, glassware and utensils
• Maintains the correct placement of all janitorial and chemical supplies
• Assists in the kitchen and surrounding areas for proper directional flow

Essential Duties: Stocking, Receiving and Rotation

• Assists in the receiving of food and non-food supplies
• Assists in the rotation (FIFO) and security of such supplies by placing supplies in the correct storage area

• Attends regular meetings; Town Hall, Department Team Meetings, Cross Over, and others as directed by the Supervisor / Department Coordinator

Classification and Training Required

Classification: Non-Exempt

• This position is non-exempt and is subject to the overtime rules under the Federal Fair Labor Standards Act and all state wage and hour laws and regulations

Sunrise University and Other Required Training

• Fulfills all required training within the required timeframe, including the completion of all Sunrise University training and study application appropriate for the position.
• Completes all training required by the state or other regulating authorities including ongoing training per regulations
• Completion of the following training may be required and/or certificates available per regulations and laws as applicable:
• CPR certificate
• ServeSafe Certificate

Essential Duties and Functions:

• Participate in testing requirements, such as COVID-19 testing, TB testing, or fit-testing (e.g. respirators);
• Use designated Personal Protective Equipment ("PPE") (e.g. respirators, face coverings, gloves, gowns, and other PPE);
• Other essential duties and functions that may be assigned.

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $15.01 per hour
