Summary of Role:
The Director of Supply and Demand Planning at SunPower is responsible for supply chain’s most critical operational metrics; timely and reliable delivery of product to SunPower customers, and inventory productivity. The ideal candidate for this position will have an extensive background in forecasting and demand planning excellence, expertise in developing inventory optimization tactics, the leadership skills to facilitate effective S&OP meetings, and the vision to continuously improve the department’s systems, tools, and reporting.

This role will oversee a department of supply and demand planners and will require leadership to develop and mentor talent as the organization expands in the coming years to support business growth. Along with the tactical supply and demand planning activities, the Director of Supply and Demand planning will own the long-term systems and infrastructure roadmap to scale the business and ensure ongoing productivity. As this role is central to the end-to-end supply chain planning processes within SunPower, this leader will regularly interface with all functions within SunPower.

The ideal candidate for this role will bring a unique blend of functional expertise in core supply chain competencies, along with outstanding written and oral communication skills. This leader will have the opportunity to manage their department with considerable independence, by developing and aligning an annual department plan, hosting monthly business performance reviews, and establishing achievable SMART goals. The top leadership attributes for this role include an extremely strong sense of ownership for their department’s goals, attention to detail that ensures ongoing tactical execution, maintaining impeccable reliability amongst cross functional peers, and the ability to dedicate time toward continuous improvement across process, talent acquisition, and future planning tools.

While this position is posted as virtual and can be supported anywhere in the United States, there is a strong preference for this leader to be located in the west coast region, as SPWR’s core offices are now located in Richmond, CA, Bellevue, WA, Tempe AZ, and Austin TX. This role will require up to 25% travel on a consistent basis to support monthly staff meetings and customer engagement.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Building integrated S&OP processes with sales, sales operations, and finance to maximize delivery performance to customers in the most profitable manner
  • Developing and hiring world class talent
  • Creating an aggressive annual plan with structured performance reviews
  • Building a customer-centric team that embraces customer-oriented goals
  • Partnering with leaders in supply chain and digital to create a long term systems and architecture roadmap
  • Contributing to supply chain sourcing sustainability, best in class processes for social responsibility and world class supplier engagement capabilities
  • Allocating time to continuous improvement programs and department productivity
  • Being an industry expert and constantly keeping up with trends in the solar industry through research or networking.
  • Facilitating weekly performance reviews to exert ownership on all department goals
  • Overseeing department budget and approving all areas of department spend
  • Ensuring timely execution of all tactical activities related to inbound and outbound supply
  • Leading demand planning reviews, aligning both the short term tactical demand plan with sales, and the longer term demand plan with finance
  • Overseeing and approving decisions related to inventory investment, customer supply allocation, product expedites, and cost/service tradeoffs.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in an applicable field.
  • Minimum of 10 years’ experience in a Supply and Demand planning leadership role.
  • Experience mentoring and developing talent; direct report and skip-level reports
  • Outstanding financial acumen, ability to lead projects with direct impact to the P&L.
  • Experience with inventory and network cost optimization
  • Demand planning acumen. 3-5 years minimum experience in projects involving forecasting accuracy excellence
  • Leadership experience in S&OP planning and facilitation
  • Experience with at least 1 major systems implementation in Supply and Demand planning

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Prior leadership experience in either the Solar industry, or related technology industry
  • Experience leading new product development initiatives
  • Strong foundation in program management fundamentals
  • Experience conducting complex supply chain cost and delivery optimization modeling.
