Responsible for strategic activities of the procurement function to support Company requirements and objectives. To provide active leadership, direction and coordination to assigned Purchasing staff on all matters essential to the raw material and technical procurement functions.

• Direct the centralized North American strategic purchasing function of assigned materials to fulfill the needs of the Company from sources capable of providing the required quality service and price
• Organize and motivate assigned Purchasing staff to implement procedures and accomplish the objectives established to achieve Corporate, divisional, departmental, and self initiated goals.
• Interview sales representatives to keep abreast of market changes and identify alternate source of supply
• Work with various departments in all divisions to achieve new business wins and help communicate to important clients critical trends in commodity markets
• Develop strong working knowledge of Symrise’s computerized systems and its impact on interfacing departments. Insure all information and data bases are current and accurate
• Assist, where requested, to support divisional/Corporate/ Global task forces as well as annual negotiations. Visit vendors to insure that they are following good manufacturing practices and adhering to corporate expectations.
• Provide supervisory and practical guidance to the Technical Purchasing Group to ensure they meet their daily as well as strategic goals.

• College degree plus 10 years’ experience in a Purchasing environment from the flavor, fragrance, food ingredients, or related industries.
• 5+ years of experience at a managerial level
