Market development strategists are responsible for driving purposeful engagement with the banking industry, with a primary focus on the development of new propositions for Moody’s Analytics banking solutions to drive sustained growth. In doing so, this role directly aligns with our strategic themes of Customer centricity & Investing with Intent. This role will focus on the finance and planning domain typically overseen by bank CFOs, including balance sheet management, planning & budgeting, and stakeholder reporting.

As a member of the Banking Strategy & Marketing group, you will act as the voice of the banking industry and will identify opportunities that support our growth ambitions. You will collaborate with colleagues across the organization to develop investment business cases with a balanced perspective that supports our strategic objectives our customer needs.

Key activities:
Under the leadership of the Head of Market Development you will:
  • Engage market with purpose

    Through collaboration with internal and external market participants:
    • Deepen MA’s understanding of the banking industry trends, challenges, and opportunities.
    • Identify emerging requirements, ideate potential new offerings, and develop relevant & timely thought leadership.
    • Engage in sales cycles to help to position new offerings.
  • Develop and test early-stage propositions
    • Drive partnership-oriented discussions with prospects and customers in areas of emerging requirement, to develop shared understanding of challenges and to garner feedback on potential solutions at an early stage.
    • Test commercial viability and develop concepts, through appropriate means including consulting, product mock-ups / prototypes, POCs.
    • Ensure a clear focus on opportunities for scalable offerings over one-off custom development.
  • Contribute to the definition and articulation of the OU portfolio growth strategy
    • Representing your domain of expertise you will support effective investment and resourcing decisions, and play a role in assessing partnership and/or potential acquisitions.
    • Assess the potential of different strategies and jointly develop fact-based investment cases.
    • Support regional business heads and Sales by informing the annual commercial strategy process with market insight and input to marketing plans (sales enablement planning).
  • Partnerships
    • In collaboration with the Partnerships team, drive identification and development of key solution and channel partners in support of product strategy and new business acquisition. Work closely with partnership team to test, establish and formalise partner relationships as well as Sales.
  • Drive collaboration
    • You will ensure that industry engagement and internal dialogue are coherent across functional teams and Operating Units, identifying and addressing silo-behaviour, both through effective use of governance framework and by building and maintaining strong internal relationships.
    • Proactively promote awareness & understanding of industry trends, requirements, opportunities and initiatives with relevant stakeholders, both in the OU and more broadly to support a collaborative, unified approach.
  • Knowledgeable in Banking Finance/Planning related activities, you have the ability to understand in practical terms the challenges faced by our customers in the banking industry.
  • Excellent relationship skills, enabling you to build strong, long term relationships both internally and externally. Excellent listening skills.
  • Commercially astute, potentially with experience in sales, product or advisory functions.
  • Experience or willingness to speak at events and write content that will be used as part of OU or MA level marketing efforts
  • Strong strategic thinking, problem solving, analytical / critical thinking skills
  • Creative and out of the box thinking yet able to work under global vision
  • Entrepreneur spirit, appetite for creating new propositions and building markets
  • Leads with conviction, able to communicate persuasively
  • Excellent communication skills in English (verbal and written), additional language a plus

  • 10% to 20% travel as needed

For US-based roles only: the anticipated hiring base salary range for this position is $136,900 to $198,550 depending on factors such as experience, education, level, skills, and location. This range is based on a full-time position. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible for incentive compensation.
