The Role

Responsible for managing sales and business development activities for high-profile Department of Defense (DoD) agencies including and primarily the Defense Information Systems Agency (DISA). This role is responsible for the overall strategic development of the DISA Core & Next Generation services within the broader DoD module.

The Main Responsibilities

  • Leverage core network services to drive new, Next Gen Tech into our mature DoD customer base.
  • Broaden and deepen existing DISA relationships to develop strategic positioning.
  • Identify addressable market, drive proposals, and negotiate to close new sales opportunities.
  • Build and maintain an account plan with 1 to 5-year strategic objectives including call plan.
  • Manage sales funnel to create pipeline growth, sustained funnel health, and sales success.
  • Drive account management responsibilities from solution development to revenue recognition.
  • Demonstrate a balance of strategic and tactical thought leadership.
  • Partner within the Lumen internal ecosystem, external partners, and the customer through a strategic and consultative sales approach to understand DISA’s business needs, modernization goals, strategic priorities to deliver value-added solutions and excellent customer experience.


What We Look For in a Candidate

  • 10 years of sales or comparable agency / customer facing experience providing complex IT infrastructure and professional service solutions to DoD customers.
  • Understanding of the Telecom and Information Technology (IT) industry and competitive landscape.
  • Experience supporting (Selling, Engineering, and/or Operating) advanced DWDM & Optical Protocols, including Dark Fiber and high-speed Wide Area Networking technologies.
  • Experience selling a combination of the following: Cyber Security, Cloud Computing Services, Next Gen Public Safety, IT Infrastructure Services, Professional Services and Integrated IT solutions.
  • Strong communication skills and presence in communicating with executives.
  • Demonstrated strong communication, written, and formal presentation skills.
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented professional with an ability to work with minimum direction.
  • DoD Security Clearance – Secret / TS.

This information reflects the anticipated base salary range for this position based on current national data. Minimums and maximums may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience and other relevant factors.

This position is eligible for either short-term incentives or sales compensation. Director and VP positions also are eligible for long-term incentive.
