Job DescriptionThis position oversees a department which assists victims and witnesses who are impacted by crimes occurring in Carroll County. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Acting as the primary liaison between the County Attorney, Asst. County Attorneys and victims of a crime, as well as witnesses in cases.
Providing support to victims and witnesses through the criminal justice system process; helping them to meet their immediate and ongoing emotional, psychological, and financial needs.
Educating and guiding victims through the criminal justice system; keeping them informed of the case status, hearing dates, plea negotiations, appeal process, parole/release, and advising them of their rights pursuant to the NH Victims" Bill of Rights (RSA 21-M: 8-k).
Providing victims and witnesses with referrals and information regarding the availability of social, mental health, medical, and financial services which may assist them.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Director of Victim/Witness Services -
Bachelor"s degree from an accredited college or university (Master"s preferred)
Prior experience managing a Victim Services Department
Grant management and grant audit experience
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Ability to establish an effective working relationship with Commissioners, Department Heads, Elected Officials, employees, and the general public.
Ability to prepare written materials and analyze data.
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with constantly changing priorities, frequent interruptions, and unexpected issues.
Strong computer skills.
