Director of Field Services

JOB SUMMARY


Work in a team environment as a key resource for ASSA ABLOY Hospitality North America to improve the quality of service and installation deliveries of third party contractors and direct employ technicians conducting project or service installations.


Responsibilities


Directs and oversees the field operations staff and activities to ensure process and delivery conformance including but not limited to cross-functional supplier management, qualifying new suppliers, recruiting, and developing new suppliers, subcontractors and direct employ field technicians as required to increase coverage and reduce operating expenditures.


Core Tasks


  • Execute leadership according to ASSA ABLOY Code of conduct and according to business strategy and objectives.
  • Drive improvements utilizing lean methodologies, supplier scorecards, and own supplier audit, ensuring supplier compliance, whilst driving systematic problem solving and process improvement plans to deliver value.
  • Oversight of department spend and continued cost reduction through automation and improved efficiencies.
  • Digitize all processes within scope.
  • Track the supplier’s and ASSA ABLOY technician staff’s performance indicators, based on scorecards and rankings, to facilitate and develop the supply base’s ability to consistently meet or exceed defined expectations.
  • Develop positive relationships and work closely with related departments to manage, implement and track suppliers, design changes, new product introductions and capacity studies.
  • Deliver results as measured by key metrics, such as supplier yield, field cost, field defect rate, supplier quality plan engagement/effectiveness, and corrective & preventive action closure.
  • Act as consultant to communicate and coach suppliers to drive cost effective improvements, minimizing waste and product design improvements inputs (installation).
  • Provide leadership during investigations of major problems and or special projects focusing on developing working relationships with suppliers.
  • Carry out new supplier validation audits and introductions (trainings and business), with supplier support and applicable methods.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement activities such as, but not limited to, VA/VE collection and measurements from hands on learnings by suppliers working with our products in the field.
  • Conduct benchmarking studies to determine best practices/designs and future trends.
  • Undertake personal continuous training and development.
  • Perform root cause analysis and resolve problems.
  • Independently determine approach and assigned tasks.
  • Build and monitor quality control system in supplier services aligned with the company policy and strategic direction.
  • Ensure specification and requirements are understood and implemented throughout the supplier base.

  • Technical teams with knowledge and findings by suppliers in the field
  • Global Quality for trouble shooting in case of quality issues or product improvements

  • Ensure all Supplier code of conduct, agreements, and insurances are complete and up to date.

Preferred Criteria


  • Batchelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Business
  • 5+ years of direct Management Experience
  • 5+ years of Project and or Product Management Experience
  • Hospitality experience is preferred but not required
  • Experience with door and door hardware preferred but not required
  • Experience recruiting subcontractors and technicians
  • Experience negotiating contract terms and conditions with subcontractors
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills
  • Fluent with Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to travel as required to perform assigned scope.
  • Ability to perform a variety of tasks at a high level of accuracy.
  • Ability to lead and direct the work of contracted and/or project related resources
