Asheville School is an intentionally small, coed 9-12 boarding school nestled on a beautiful 300-acre campus in Asheville, North Carolina. Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Effectively communicate the vision, mission and values of Asheville School with prospective and current families and the community at large
  • Manage the admission and enrollment processes and policies, successfully yielding approximately 110 new students each year
  • Collaborate with administrators and program leadership to enhance recruitment, enrollment and retention processes
  • Provide a vision for recruitment strategies that reflects both the domestic and international markets
  • Collaborate with Marketing and Communications Department to develop and implement a multichannel marketing and admission communications strategy
  • Track, manage, analyze and report on all admissions process elements and retention
  • Analyze need with regard to financial aid awards to prospective students
  • Stay aware of current trends in boarding and independent school admissions
  • Travel domestically and internationally recruiting students and fostering collaborative relationships and partnerships with feeder schools and educational consultants
  • Serve as a member of the school’s senior administrative team
  • Manage the personnel in the office of admission
  • Manage the admissions budget and partner with the Business Office to manage financial aid budget
  • Other duties as assigned by the Head of School

Minimum Job Requirements

  • At least 5-7 years of experience in independent school administration.
  • High level of cultural competence and commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging.
  • A willingness to take informed risks and experiment with new strategies and techniques.
  • A high degree of comfort with implementing and managing change in an admission setting.
  • Excellent oral, written, and organizational and managerial skills with great attention to detail.
  • Ability to receive and respond positively to critical feedback, as well as to have difficult conversations.
  • Experience successfully leading complex strategic initiatives and translating high aspirations into achievable and measurable goals and accomplishments.
  • Commitment to personal and professional growth.
  • A leadership style marked by integrity.
  • Sensitivity, discretion, and a healthy sense of humor.
  • Bachelor's degree required; Master's or Doctorate degree preferred.

Work Setting & Environmental Factors
Depending on the assigned/selected afternoon activities, this position may require work in a variety of indoor settings as well as outdoors and travel may be required on a seasonal basis.
