The Director of Creative Engagement is responsible for developing and executing strategy for expanding Creative Engagement programming to reach older adults in Chicagoland and beyond. This includes working with Curriculum Developer and Facilitators to develop additional program offerings, identifying additional strategies to expand program reach, and contributing to Identifying and developing community-based partnerships. This person has a strong presence on the ground in Chicagoland, particularly in underserved communities, working to develop new relationships with leaders of community-based organizations and others who can help support CI in achieving our goals.

  • Works collaboratively with and supervises Curriculum Developer and Facilitator staff to develop Creative Engagement program offerings for older adults.


  • Develops and implements strategies to scale program offerings to meet Community Initiatives goals for numbers served.


  • Oversees operations for in-person “pop-up programming” and Center for Creative Community in Chicago. Identifies and executes strategies to increase community engagement with in-person offerings.
  • Works collaboratively with Mather Institute to conduct ongoing evaluation of programs to determine which programs to maintain, revise or eliminate.
  • Identifies and establishes new partnerships with community-based organizations and others who can support CI projects and initiatives and expand Mather’s customer base. Maintains partner relationships, including ongoing communication and support needed to execute their role. Travels frequently within Chicagoland for meetings with potential and current partners
  • Responsible for contracts, budgets and reporting. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to creating annual project budgets, analysis of projected expenses and revenues, variances, and forecasts as well as developing and submitting reports to key stakeholders
  • Ensures Mather’s participation in important community events such as chamber of commerce, health or aging service fairs, and others that can contribute to identification of new project partners

Secondary Functions:


  • Participates in conducting webinars, presentations, and trainings as assigned.
  • Serves as a liaison for MI staff to connect with community-based partners who may contribute to MI research efforts.
