JOB SUMMARY

The Director, Compliance-International works closely with the Chief Compliance Officer, Global Compliance Officers, and Global Legal with a focus on implementing and maintaining an effective compliance program for Medline’s Latin America and Asia based businesses as well as supporting global compliance initiatives and projects. This individual also works closely with Compliance team members and cross-functional partners to manage and run complex compliance initiatives at Medline.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide day-to-day compliance and support to the businesses in compliance with Medline’s Code of Business Conduct, Medline Policies and applicable laws.
  • Review and approve key transactions such as interactions with healthcare providers and government officials as well as grants and donations and clinical research.
  • Provide training on key compliance policies and procedures as well as applicable laws including at key business meetings such as sales meetings. Assist with roll out of global training initiatives.
  • Keep abreast of industry standards and outlooks related to compliance practices, as well as regulatory news that could affect the company's business activities regionally, nationally or internationally.
  • Update policies and guidance documents as needed to address changes to laws, regulations, or company rules and guidelines.
  • Draft and implement local compliance policies as required by local laws and industry groups.
  • Assist global operations team with annual risk assessment process, monitoring of key risk areas and investigations as requested.
  • Work closely with the Manager, Due Diligence to ensure third parties are reviewed through the third party due diligence process and assist with in-person training of relevant third parties as requested.
  • Demonstrate strong capabilities to engage directly with business on strategy and be able to pivot to granular detail within working teams.
  • Manage projects including driving the creation of integrated project plans and timelines, facilitating requirements gathering, setting role, responsibilities and expectations, brainstorming options and solutions as well as execute the same.
  • Drive standardization of delivery and activities to provide efficient service, as well as knowledge sharing and supporting related teams/projects.
  • Integrate and synthesize information from multiple teams, including product, legal and policy domain knowledge, in order to analyze complex issues, mitigate risks and solve problems.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree.

Certification / Licensure

  • None required.

Work Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience providing compliance advice and supporting a business including issues touching on healthcare laws like the anti-kickback statute and anti corruption laws such as the FCPA.
  • At least 7 years of experience in compliance, regulatory, quality and/or clinical role.
  • At least 4 years of experience ensuring adherence to legal standards and in-house policies and enforcing regulations in all aspects and levels of business as well as provide guidance on compliance matters.
  • At least 2 years of experience leading and implementing a comprehensive compliance program.
  • At least 4 years of experience managing people, including hiring, developing, motivating and directing people as they work.

  • Knowledge / Skills / Abilities
  • Strong familiarity with Federal Health Care Laws and global anti- corruption laws.
  • Strong reporting and communication skills across all levels, for example, team/organizational updates, leadership escalations, detailed working group notes, etc.
  • Communications planning and implementation experience (including the ability to integrate and coordinate various elements into an actionable plan).
  • Experience in program management skills, with ability and proven track record to plan, manage and develop strategic initiatives to successful goal completion.
  • Experience presenting and reporting on project plans and cost benefit analyses to appropriate stakeholders, executives, and senior management.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment/make decisions
  • Ability to manage peers and departmental support to achieve monitoring, communications and training goals.
  • Experience collaborating with internal and/or external resources to develop strategies that meet department goals within budget and established timelines.
  • Experience and skills in influencing, leading and directing individuals in multiple functional areas.
  • Position may require travel up to 40% of the time for business purposes (within state, out of state and/or internationally).
