Otepoti Dunedin is one of the World’s great small cities – and a UNESCO City of Literature to boot! We are now looking for a new Director to help us in our mission here at the Dunedin Public Libraries. If you’re creative, innovative and strategic with a track record of transformational change, we want you to join our team.

We provide services across our community through the city library in central Dunedin and community libraries across the city. In addition to our physical libraries, we have a mobile library service that now includes a cutting-edge electric book bus, an expansive digital library and a range of e-services.

We’re hoping that you will bring your experience and expertise to take Dunedin's much-loved libraries to the next level.

The Role
As a library professional, you’ll be able to challenge existing practices, explore new service and partnership initiatives and identify efficiencies – we're keen to see what you can add to our strategic vision for the Dunedin library services.

Day-to-day, your role will include the following:

• Delivering on the strategic vision for Dunedin Public Libraries
• Leading and fostering a great team culture for the entire Libraries team
• Managing facilities, staff and resources cost effectively
• Being responsible for internal and external reporting
• Taking care of staff and customer health, safety, and wellbeing
• On-going professional development of library staff members
