IonQ is developing the world's most powerful full-stack quantum computer based on trapped-ion technology. We are looking for a communications leader. In this role, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.

You'll be part of the growing marketing team working to support our go to market organization with product positioning, messaging and marketing support. You'll bring clarity to a rapidly evolving market, guiding marketing initiatives and investments that help IonQ deliver on ambitious goals.

Responsibilities:

  • Work cross-functionally to craft PR strategies that amplify integrated campaigns with Brand, Content Marketing, Product Marketing, Investor Relations, and other teams
  • Develop and execute PR strategies for product and application launches that build on the IonQ brand / narrative for multiple audiences
  • Manage proactive news engine across all media verticals and reactive inbound media inquiries that support the IonQ brand
  • Foster and maintain positive relationships with key media outlets and reporters on behalf of IonQ, influencing both awareness and customer engagement
  • Coordinate press briefings, media tours and events, and create press materials including blog posts, media pitches, FAQs and fact sheets
  • Manage PR / Influencer agencies
  • Work closely with Investor Relations, Compliance, and Legal regarding all aspects of your role
  • Work directly with leaders / C-suite across the company to train and prepare them for media interactions and hone thought leadership platforms
  • Help develop or edit press releases, pitches, bylines, blog posts, abstracts, award nominations (eg for the likes of Forbes Cloud 100) and contributed content
  • Identify and manage relevant award applications, podcast opportunities and conference submissions for key executives

You'd be a good fit with:

  • 12+ years of direct experience in public relations and communications
  • A track record of launching products / solutions to top-tier tech and business media, and building close relationships with tech and business press
  • Product and brand PR experience such as developing campaigns, managing product reviews, and building media strategies
  • Crisis management experience and proven ability to earn trust with key internal stakeholders
  • Excellent media relations skills and close relationships with national business, technology and enterprise media, as well as vertical industry trade media
  • Experience managing external vendors and agency partners
  • A good understanding of integrated communications programs and the ability to lead them with focus on press relations and social media
  • Pre, at and post IPO experience ideally in the deep-tech/SaaS/enterprise software space
  • Experience working with senior executives or a C-suite; confidence to deal with senior executives and recommend communication techniques
  • Ideally some Analyst Relations experience; willingness to dive deeper into the Analyst Relations craft and support Analyst Relations efforts as needed

Our HQ is located in College Park, Maryland and we are a 15 minute metro ride from Washington DC. We are actively building out teams in the Washington D.C., Seattle, and Boston metro areas and will want to locate you in one of these geographies. However, IonQ will be expanding into additional geographies both domestically and internationally so don't let this stop you from applying.
