The Opportunity

We are seeking a dedicated Director, Business Information Architect. This position is a hybrid work type and can be based in either San Antonio, TX or Plano, TX. Hybrid roles help employees gain the best of both worlds – collaborating in-person in the office and working from home when needed to achieve focused results.

A leadership position that holds the responsibility for the development and implementation of the information architecture practice to support the measuring and monitoring of enterprise business needs.

What you'll do:

  • Identifies and leads existing and emerging risks that stem from business activities and the job role.
  • Ensures risks associated with business activities are effectively identified, measured, supervised, and controlled.
  • Follows written risk and compliance policies, standards, and procedures for business activities.
  • Leads team in information architecture (IA) and information asset management capabilities; works with program management community in prioritization and funding capabilities delivery.
  • Provides leadership, motivation, and professional environment necessary for building highly performing teams that collaborate with enterprise partners in defining IA and information asset management capabilities that support business needs.
  • Leads all aspects of projects involving IA throughout the enterprise and guides efforts to define the mission, goals, critical success factors, principles, and policies for information strategy and architecture (IS&A). Ensures IA principles are accurately represented, prioritized and aligned with information management activities throughout the enterprise.
  • Collaborates with business and technology partners on using IA and information asset management capabilities in support of achieving business operations and strategic business goals and objectives.
  • Educates enterprise stakeholders on IA and information asset management; develops relationships with key enterprise stakeholders.
  • Proactively communicates between business and technology teams to improve effectiveness and value of IA and information asset management processes to the business.

What you have:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Architecture, Information Management, Information and Data Science, Information Studies, or a related technical field; OR 4 years of related experience in information governance, information management or information architecture (in addition to the minimum years of experience required) may be substituted in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years’ experience in information and/or data architecture to include strategy, planning, and delivery oversight; OR If Advanced degree, 6 years’ experience in information or data architecture.
  • 3 years of direct team lead or management experience.
  • Previous experience with modern data architecture environments (Cloud, Hadoop, NoSQL, etc.).
  • Proven ability to embrace new technologies of the future and operationalize these to deliver value (Data Virtualization, Cloud).
  • Knowledge and experience working with data analysis tools and leveraging reporting and data analysis that molds the way user experiences are designed.
  • In-depth knowledge of architectural principles and extensive experience applying principles to business solutions.
  • Exceptional communication skills and the ability to communicate appropriately at all levels of the organization; this includes written and verbal communications as well as visualizations.

What sets you apart:

  • Understanding of Basel Committee on Banking Supervision (BCBS) standard 239.
  • Experience driving change/ transformation initiatives in financial services / banking / regulatory domain.
  • Expertise in data and analytics implemented for financial crimes (disputes, fraud, AML/BSA).
  • Expertise in integration of customer / member and core banking product and transaction data as it relates to analysis and reporting of financial crimes.
  • Fluent in KYC and AML/BSA regulations.
  • US military experience through military service or a military spouse/domestic partner.

What we offer:

Compensation: USAA has an effective process for assessing market data and establishing ranges to ensure we remain competitive. You are paid within the salary range based on your experience and market data of the position. The actual salary for this role may vary by location. The salary range for this position is: $ 132,500.00 - $ 253,220.00.

Employees may be eligible for pay incentives based on overall corporate and individual performance and at the discretion of the USAA Board of Directors.
