Purpose ............... Under the direction of the Dining Room Manager or Food Service Director this position is responsible for quality-of-service delivery during meal service and for compliance with special diets offered by the community. The Dietary Aide is responsible for communicating with the community on all appropriate matters.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Required ............. § Able to follow communicated planning, directing, controlling, and coaching. This position requires strong written and verbal communication skills, strong personnel skills and positive community relations skills to be successful. § Must be self-motivated and have a strong customer service work ethic. § Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented § Pleasant, professional and personal manner.

DUTIES

Typical ................ 1. Customer Service: Under the direction of the Dining Room Manager or Food Service Director, supports the development of a positive customer service culture in the dining room. Offers evaluation of the quality of service and develops systems to maximize the efficiency of meal delivery while maintaining a pleasant dining experience. 2. Delivery of food: Takes beverage and food orders, delivers food, clears, cleans, sanitizes and resets tables. Makes every expected effort to maintain customer satisfaction. Able to resolve dining challenges with a customer before the conclusion of the meal service. 3. Station assignments Performs assigned side work that may include but is not limited to: doing the dishes, re-setting the dining room, cleaning and restocking the galley, cleaning chairs or table bases, vacuuming the floor, folding napkins, dishing salads and dressings, preparing snacks etc. 4. Compliance with Sanitation and Dietary Guidelines: Maintains a clean dining room. This includes all equipment, walls, tabletops and bases and chairs. Linens are changed as needed. Table tops condiments and salt and pepper shakers are kept clean. 5. Safety Compliance: The Dietary Aide is responsible for ensuring that they and any employees working with them work in a safe manner and that unsafe actions are to be managed. Compliance with Safety Committee Standards is required. 6. Team Effectiveness:

The Dietary Aide is responsible for fostering teamwork with co-workers, showing initiative in overcoming obstacles, taking actions which assist others beyond job responsibilities, and having a positive impact on co-workers, residents and visitors. 7. Perform other duties as assigned or needed.

EXPERIENCE

Preferred ............. Previous food service or other customer service-related fields

WORKING CONDITIONS

Usual ................... Professional dining room environment. Uses basic equipment in the kitchen such as toasters, juice machines, coffee makers, etc. Verbally able to articulate in person and over the phone. Meeting minimum attendance requirements.

Special................. The Dietary Aide encounters stressful conditions dealing with residents, employees, and business activities. Also, must be able to work well under pressure, to resolve conflicts, to prioritize tasks, and follow through with ideas. Excellent verbal and written skills, interpersonal and mediation skills, ability to evaluate workers’ performance, strong working knowledge of employment laws and company regulations. Must be able to work evenings and weekends and maintain a flexible work schedule.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Usual ................... Sitting, walking, bending, data entry, reading, written and verbal communication, and lifting to 50 pounds. Standing for prolonged periods of time while serving food.
