About the Mission You Will Join:

The Department of State has entrusted VMD to perform internal and external-facing informational websites and web applications activities specifically for the Bureau of Consular Affairs. VMD’s mission is to perform migration/decommissioning activities over legacy websites to support the modernization of its website governance, architecture, and design.

Your Impact to the Mission:

• In this DevOps Engineer role, you will work with architects and teams to erect & manage the build process across QA / Stage / Production; define and automate the build and deployment process.
• Setup the build process using various tech based on the platform.
• Maintain various software feature branches using a Source Control System.
• Design, document and communicate the build process.
• Participate in deployment & configuration of the application as needed.
• Perform system administration, manage patching, and control assets.

Experience Needed to Be Successful:

• 5 years setting up Continuous Integration (CI) for Open Source and Microsoft CI
• Experience in the below technologies, tools, and / or platforms:
  Open Source tech: GitLab, CLM, Jira, Nexus, Ansible, Jenkins, OATS, Selenium, Confluence, Maven, SonarQube, Kubernetes, and MS Build
• Development experience with: C# or Java/J2EE; AngularJS, JSP, XML, JavaScript, jQuery, JSON, HTML5, CSS
• Experience with build scripts and continuous deployment
• Experience with Windows and Linux scripting, a plus
• Experience with Linux, Apache and Windows Server administration, a plus

Basic Qualifiers:

• Education Requirement: Bachelor’s in Computer Science, or a related field.
• Can Additional Years of Experience Substitute for Degree? Yes
• Minimum Years of Overall Experience: 5
• Minimum Years of Specific Experience in Field: 4
• Minimum Clearance to Start: Active Secret Clearance or ability to obtain Interim Secret Clearance.
• Work Status Allowable: US Citizenship

Travel and Telecommuting:

• Travel: Little (less than 10%)
• Telecommute Options: Occasional telecommuting is possible. Part of the team is currently remote. While customer is flexible, full return to office could occur. Also, may be times when being onsite at our Ballston office is the only option to get work done.
