POSITION PURPOSE

Completes the Day Habilitation developmental evaluations. Assists in the fulfillment of Grow’s vision of providing a healthy, educational environment with implementation of the most current and research based academic philosophies within the classroom setting.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS & BASIC DUTIES

  • Determines eligibility by conducting formal Day Habilitation developmental evaluations using the most current Battelle Developmental Inventory and corresponding evaluations including ELAP or LAP on all new children and existing children (annually).
  • Ensures that the proper assessment is administered to all patients according to the assessment schedule.
  • Completes comprehensive written report of evaluation findings within 7 days of conducting the required evaluations. Report to be distributed to Admissions Specialist or Clinical Care Specialist depending on patient being assessed. Informs Admissions Coordinator or Clinical Service Coordinator of testing results upon completion of the Battelle.
  • Seek and include family input while creating the patient’s treatment plan.
  • Ensures that an Individual Educational Treatment Plan (IETP) is developed and updated as needed.
  • Ensures that the proper assessment is administered to all patients according to the assessment schedule.
  • May perform other related and non-related duties, as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS

Education/ Certification:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Special Education, Elementary Education, Early Childhood Special Education, or Developmental Therapy.

Experience/ Knowledge required:

  • Two years of successful experience in a classroom setting working with developmentally at-risk children or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Skills/ Abilities:

  • Ability to communicate effectively and professionally with a wide variety of people.
  • Must be able to work with children birth to age 18 and families who are at risk.
  • Knowledge of Batelle Developmental Inventory, ELAP, LAP testing protocols.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Basic computer skills which includes a working knowledge of database, word processing, spreadsheet, and Internet software.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks in a very busy environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, policies, and other company documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of families or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide, in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standard situations.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is regularly required to walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is frequently required to stand and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

The noise level in the work environment is moderately quiet.
